This issue has been here since launch, and was repported even before launch. When connecting some devices the sim crashes, specially if you connect it, disconnect it and connect it again fast.
This has to go since some periferals can be turned on and off and can crash the sim midflight.
I’ve had this happen a few times over the years with FSX and MSFS. The best thing is not to connect or disconnect peripherals whilst the sim is running. I don’t think its an issue with the sim, just the way computers and windows work generally.
I can plug and unplug components in other sims and games without issue, the sim should not crash from this.
Sometimes I need to switch peripherals, for example I have different peripherals for when I am flying an airbus or a boeing, or I might want to disconnect my mouse to avoid conflicts with track IR and my TCA and auto-pilot panel.
I imagine the issue is low priority, but really annoying.
USB hubs/cards are so easy/affordable why would you ever want to physically touch anything especially during flight?
That’s not the sim, it‘s your computer that causes the crash. Maybe it‘s both sides but not the sim alone. It has never crashed here when I pulled the yoke and plugged in the stick.
You could try a program called Driver Booster. It has been recommended in an Avsim CTD guide and is free for basic use. They want to sell it to you but there is no need. It‘s helpful to find outdated hardware drivers, all above for the chipset, PCIe and USB hubs. When I installed my new PC I had some problems too but new drivers resolved my problems.
It only happens with MSFS and other games are working fine but the problem is my PC that uses the same config for every game. Alright…
I’ve had this but when you do this don’t touch nothing the sim will come back after a minute or so. Don’t start madly clicking around. I also play in windowed mode so that may help things a bit?
well, there is another sentence after this one. And then another sentence where I said that it works without any issues here so it’s not the sim per se. If it was I would have the same problems. I don’t.
When I’m in the menu and pull my Alpha yoke for example, it stutters a second, then continues. If I plug something in it stutters a second too, then shows a dialogue. Always. That’s why I recommend to check the drivers, all above the less obvious ones.
When a program works for most people but doesn’t for some then the main issue is most likely local. Of course this program might had been coded more stable to ignore the problem and continue to run, maybe resolve the problem itself. This one isn’t but that doesn’t make it the culprit here. It can’t handle a certain problem that occurs when you unplug your device but you have to resolve the problem, not the symptom.
Absolute nonsense, honestly…
You are right, it usually does, but sometimes it does not, I wonder what is causing this.
