At least the many trees hide the blurry ground textures.
Wow this airport didn’t exist in my Basic MSFS 2024 version
The Binng satellite image shows a muddy place
Hi, I’m still on FS2020 and I’m flying in Iceland at the moment.
Oh boy!! There it is as bad as it can get.
Hornafjör∂ur north of Höfn - Trees on approach, manageable but still…
Egilsta∂ir - a city like a forest…
Sey∂isfjör∂ur - almost not recognisable for the load of trees…
The fun fact is: in real life there are almost no trees at all in Iceland! Been there 3 times, seen it.
Regards, Frank
Lmao
The IRL photo was actually taken during the early days of the airport. It’s relatively new and was probably still under construction, so there’s a lot of sand during the time the aerial photos were taken. Today the airport has grass, but the I liked the image I posted here the most out of all the google search results.
Oh wow, I was thinking that by now it would be in MSFS2024 I didn’t know since I immediately copied over my sceneries (or more like linked using addon linker).
The airport was actually opened after MSFS2020 was released so it’s relatively new and I’d understand why it’s not in MSFS2020. It’s so disappointing how it’s not in 2024 as well!
Anyways, I’m using the RPSP scenery by KER0TIN if you want to check it out. On the map it displays as Captain Mateo Airstrip on the world map, an airfield which has the same ICAO code but is actually closed now and conflicts with this scenery.

Here is an idea - one that would benefit both Asobo and us the customers. Use AI to modify its own behaviour. For example give it new rules that any small dark areas are bushes not trees plus for The European area remove at least 25% of the total.
Another AI rule would be: in the countryside make those large footprint buildings into barns, not hi rise.
Then there could be an AI assistant for correcting scenery. Instead of the awkward SDK with its fussy file structure and often different controls to what is published in the “how to”
We could have an AI driven graphic interface for minor changes.
An example.
Start the sim, navigate to the small grass gliding site near me, select “AI correction” possibly enter the ICAO and/or the coordinates then the system would give us a top down view. We roam around drawing around areas with the mouse and changing the sim AI with the editor AI. Things like “that dark area is a wire fence overgrown with bushes surrounding a plot for small towing caravans”. Then highlight another area and say “one large farm barn with a lower building along either side” or"the windsock needs deleting from there and a new one should be put here"
Then the AI would convert it all into the format needed for scenery corrections. Possibly after proving the work by showing real life images it could be verified by Asobo and streamed to all.
It would save Asobo a lot of work and fast track some decent scenery in smaller “forgotten” places
But if they hired modders, then they’d have to pay them to fix the game instead of getting free patches from the community…
So…the genesis of the Cylons war against the creators of AI, the human race. Was MSFS 2024?
“I am NOT replanting all those $%^&*+g trees.”
The Bijan mod is a hit and miss in some areas. That’s why I can’t use it unless you request those areas to be fixed.
I installed the mod and KORS is missing trees north of the airport. The default trees are oversized but at least they aren’t missing.
My 2024 of this with Bijan app looks pretty good
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Cool idea! Almost too good to become true, but I guess in a few years this could be reality if it looks like it pays off and Asobo is willing to accept and push this idea.
In some way this would be like the “land classes” in former versions of flight simulators, but in a “softer”, more intelligent way, fitting to the imagery.
One thing I have noticed (I have and use both sims a lot) is that the ground textures and their interpretation by Ai - especially with trees - has merged. So for example where there were too many but not too notceable tees there are way too many, and in places they should’t be - and in both sims now exactly the same. So I suspect the AI building-up of the ground scene is just ported into both sims. So Asobo, if you correct this it wll impact both and give us all improvements.
after last update for fs2024 still too many trees no change at all
completely unrealistic
some crop fields are full of trees, and some forest areas have no trees at all
must be an issue with fs2024 AI algorithm, fs2020 seems to be placing trees in a much better way than fs2024
well , I m back to fs2020 again…
If you followed the Development updates you would know that this issue is targeted for SimUpdate 2, so check again in a few months.
thanks for the reply
I though it was supposed to be solved in SU1
If I had a choice, this would be my number one issue to fix, not just to improve realism but because it should also improve performance with so much less to render.
Exactly! Unfortunately there’s no more Words about nowadays.
Looks like nobody cares
They did say more updates will come in the future about this, for now they fixed the UK. I don’t remember if they said they will do more updates in SU2
