Excessive amount of trees (2024 trees are even more excessive than 2020)

I think they mentioned something along those lines of a generalised fix in SU2 when they ran through the bug list in a dev live stream, but I don’t think it was a firm commitment!

TBH it’s a bit of a stretch showing this item in the bug list as light green, when it’s only been fixed in a country with 0.05% of the world’s surface!

Antarctica. Instead of less trees maybe it just needs more lions.

Some great comparisons. And as someone else mentioned, im sure performance would improve if we dont have to render a rainforrest of trees everywhere, and also the 2024 trees seem to be way more FPS hungry, especially hard on CPU resources.

I just find it strange that the trees are like this in FS2024 when they managed to do such a good job in FS2020.
But that also gives me hope, if they did a good job in 2020 they can improve and maybe do an even better job in fs2024 eventually!

My guess is they swapped the AI technology they use for determening where to plant vegitation and what type.

I Installed and paid for the Bijan tree fix. What a difference! I just dont get how Asobo cant do this right. My $200.00 wasnt enough? This fix is not perfect but much better. Now just fix the over Glare on the windsceens. Maybe they should have Bijan fix that for us too. Bijan Seasons for MSFS 2024 addresses tree height and vegetation issues - MSFS Addons

To think it was better in 2020… and now this.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: just like they hired Inibuilds and Carenado to make airplanes for FS2024, they also need to hire Bijan to do the terrain/trees and Hifi to do the weather. Just like Asobo acknowledged they cannot create a study-level airliner, they also must realize they cannot be the best at everything else either.

The core of the sim, SDK and career mode should stay coded by Asobo, because those don’t frequently see updates. Asobo is excellent at breaking things while fixing others.

Obviously now, it is too late to implement these ideas, because the simulator is already hard-coded. Perhaps this is the reason we’ll need an FS2028.

And excessive PALM trees in Wash DC!!! DC native and I can tell you there is no such thing as a palm tree anywhere near DC…Bijan seems to be able to fix these things in one day?? MSFS without mods would be nothing. But I guess mods without MSFS would be nothing too… haha

Okay wow! I missed that! Did not know bijan made a fix for this already. The pics look quite good i might have to grab it

Just installed bijan seasons and the difference is amazing, it really is a fantastic fix to the current tree and vegetation issue

It isn’t any more. The algorithm that places the trees has changed with WU18 Germany/Austria/Switzerland. FS2020 is in the same state now as well.

Well, I’m really happy for all who can use this fix.
But what are the chances for us Xbox users?

Wait & hope?

As I mentioned earlier in this topic, while it’s nice that there is a 3rd party option for those who want it - in principle I don’t like it as a solution since I think this should be on Asobo to do better in the base game.

I don’t want to diminish the work Bijan is doing, I’ve seen before and after images and videos, and I’ve no doubt it hugely improves specific regions as he gets to them, but I’d like to keep the heat on Asobo to fix the root of this issue and make the base game better.

Oh absolutley, its sad that we even need 3rd party devs for this. It should be taken care of already by Asobo. But at least 3rd party addons can deal with the issue temporarily to a degree, at least until something is improved (hopefully

Ah-ha - found the thread. So I created another one and mods maybe feel free to merge in some way but I’ve been comparing FS24 on Xbox vs PC and if you thought there were too many trees on PC then you should see Xbox. Here’s a couple of screenshots from this week’s rally challenge at Queenstown in the XCub. Needless to say, pics with trees are Xbox series X and pics with no trees is PC on Ultra settings

Xbox struggles as it is and doesn’t need to have to deal with thousands of extra trees that PC doesn’t have

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Absolut YES!!!

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• All what must be mentioned already was mentioned here:

  • There are too much trees?
  • There are trees where less one should be
  • There are trees where NO ONE should be
  • And that over the whole world
  • More further below …

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• Have non. But that should be not neccessary because everybody with MSFS2024 can look by itself. Especially those who are responsible for that !!!

FURTHER INFOS:

  • I flew ober Germany (Frankfurt - Koblenz, somewhere in that area): trees on field where should not standing trees inmidst of a field!
  • I make actuall a tour through eastern parts of Africa from North to South. At planning the tour I checked several areas in MSFS2024 because in MSFS2020 are several big areas south of Adid Abeba really worse with satellite data, causing really bad coloured ground and bad resolutions. But in MSFS2024 I noticed that even here are trees where no one should be. The whole area Egypt, down to Sudan and anywhere else.
Even in the Sahara desert, where only wasteland, rocks and sand should be as far as eyes can look, what I became to see? TREES!!!

Sorry, but How can Microsoft and Asobo bring out this kind of Sim, announcing it with better and more detailed graphics and then cumming with this stuff? This is a huge downgrade to MSFS2020 even if the new sim seems to have better detailed topographic (in some area!) and the possibility to walk around.. It was in MSFS2020 not all perfect, but overall it look far more realistic than this now. It had been great if they only had upgraded those areas who had bad satelitte data causing to areas with very low resolution ground textures and bad colouring (as it was for example in Areas as Africa, South America, …)
The most of my tour I will do in MSFS2020. For the bad areas I will use MSFS2024 but only because I still have some time left with my GamePass. But then that was it for me with MSFS20024 (thank god I didnt buy it, just tested it with Gamepass).

I believe to.
But I think that one problem is use the same configuration in settings for quantity and quality, like bush, buildings, characteres, etc

I just switched to the SU 2 beta which was published today. I did not see “excessive trees” mentioned but I did see a reference to a corrected tree line on the Canary islands in the Release Notes, so I gave it a try.

And wow, it’s like night and day, really! :star_struck:

Roque de los Muchachos, La Palm until SimUpdate 1 (I posted this image further up already):

With SimUpdate 2 Beta (1.4.7.0):

(Both screenshots without Bjians Season Enhanced mod. Tree density high in SU 2 Beta.)

And it even gets better: The caldera around the Teide volcano (on Teneriffa) is now almost void of trees, just some bushes around.
Until SimUpdate 1 (on right side, left side is a photo)

SimUpdate 2 Beta (1.4.7.0):

You can now walk there and see the Roques de García from the ground, just like in reality.) That was impossible before.

Another area that’s vastly more realistic now is the Atacama desert at the location of the “Sajama Lines” mission in the “Geoglyphs of the World” WP collection. No more forests in a semi-desert at >4000m altitude, just very rare bushes … and grass. :+1:

And the Etosha salt pan in Namibia looks better now, like 2/3 of the trees are gone now. :+1:

I still wonder if I have done a mistake, it’s almost too good to be true.

That said, excessive trees aren’t fixed worldwide yet, but it’s a good start. Thanks a lot for fixing this. Keep up this work and I will soon enjoy VFR flying in FS2024 a lot more than before.

Fixed, very good and tree heights much more realistic. Sim Update 2 beta!

I can confirm significantly less trees in SU2 beta on Xbox series X

All I did was to state my hardware in the context of what I was saying about trees as I’d been discussing on here about how, for some reason, Xbox had significantly more trees than PC as proven in videos and screenshots. There was absolutely no need for your hostile, lots of CAPS, comments in the context of this thread

:rofl:I’m dancing :man_dancing:I mean DANCING!

It looks like as when the “to many tree” problems have been solved.
