Expand on regional architecture (blackshark.ai)

I think regional architecture in how buildings look can be much improved on. Generated buildings don’t (in most cases) look like their regional counter parts.

Right now it’s having trouble with trees, gables/dormers and fire escapes first off in my opinion hopefully as an AI it improves over time.

Out of curiosity, I only remember BlacksharkAI really being talked about and discussed when MSFS was initially coming out. Is that something that has been built into the engine itself and is still ongoing or is that just something they did for the initial build and release and nothing has been changed. I mention this because I remember someone posting on here awhile back asking if they were still involved as there were some things that if AI were building and rendering in game that they would be apparent.

Hi, would it be possible to get some improved Black Shark features/objects??

Some of us only use Bing-World with Satelite imagery with Online features BUT WITHOUT Photogrametry

Part of the reason is “Melted builings”(gray dark apocalypse) look, but In my country of Norway (The Nordics)
they are also not avaliable.

So I have then chosen not to turn on Photogrammetry…
Photogrammetry are also a bit demanding features for the system…

And I also live in a seperate area of the world(Norway) where Server-speed is NOT garateed EVEN IF you pay big bills money per month for a Fast-internet for it.

I would Love to see some “ongoing improvements” again to the Black Shark AI!
more objects, better placement more variety!

Bing Satelite with Black Shark, was a really good idea(keeping the internet speed to a reasonable requirement), but its improvements to world/object seems to have halted.

I Fear that MSFS2024 will be even more Photogrametry based, and that will escalate server problems!!!

some ISP’s are “monitoring”(MSFS and similar games) and
delibaretly THROTTLING the download speed…
So It would be NICE if also Black-Shark features got a HEALTHY BOOST!!

Thanks so much Asobo/Microsoft for listening!

Asobo/Black Shark AI have obviously stopped the development of new ‘procedural buildings’ after WU V (Nordics).
cf. World Update VI: Procedural Buildings

The autogen buildings really need some love, some of them are really out of place. In order to add to immersion Black Shark could, or should, deliver regio-specific procedural buildings to the other WU’s and add religious buildings (churches, mosques, temples, …) barns and farms, cranes etc. and improve the look of the night textures of high rise buildings.

Demands of which some have been made years ago:

But my guess is that all development power is being transferred to FS2024 - if there is any cooperation left at all.

I Hope to see this improvement in MSFS2024, for when photogramerty-ground “is not avaliable” for the area or something like that.

Love the new tech shown in MSFS2024 Though. :+1:
I just want a “Good fallback” and the tech will probla not work perfectly on buildings, when the new tech is having issues or something(which will probably to be expected judging by the issues shown in lifespan of the sim…)

It’s a bit strange soo much good tech at launch in MSFS2020 Lifetime (beeing put on the backburner) “did the contracts end” or something ?
Meteoblue, (THE Best weather engine-tech ever in a sim)
Black Shark AI, (plausible world turned up to the MAX)
the charts that never showed up from NavBlue only the Nav-data cycles
(The never ending discussion about AI-trafic/ATC)

It’s a good thing I invested in Navigraph/Simbrief (monthly can be a bit pricy though), they have really pushed the bar lately and providing a good product with a ton of features(more than I am capable to understand…)

Yeah, I’m not sure Black Shark AI is even involved at this point, think Microsoft bought in the technology and after the fith world update they parted ways. I could be wrong of course

Though let us see for MSFS 2024 what their solution is!

I have a feeling that horrific appearance up close will be solved in MSFS 2024. Bush strips and small airports in photogrammetry areas are especially bad.

The tech works good from 500 feet (150 meters) on up.

If you fly into larger, typically hand crafted airports you don’t notice so much.

I have a horrible time with this when I’m doing scenery development. It’s a roller coaster. I’ve been thinking doing scenery work hits up the online services harder.

I agree, “parted ways” is what I belive happened to way to MUCH Tech in this sim… :unamused: :face_with_spiral_eyes:
"Flabberghasting at launch time":star_struck::star_struck::star_struck::grinning::grinning::grinning:

then dialed waaay back(regressed) :face_with_spiral_eyes::astonished::sob:
or abandoned/discontinued

I REAAALLY Hope that they started on MS2024 a minimum 2-2.5 years ago when they realized WHAT had happened to the sim over time… :grimacing: and they realized the sim was heading down a rocky path and could not recover again… I guess I can forgive that, and they needed a new sim to recover from it to give us our features promised… :open_mouth:

I’m guessing MSFS 2024 ramped up around the time the AAU updates started.

There was a time in the Q&A sessions it had a bright perspective promises of improved blow you away weather, talk about world2.0 and Microsoft China ATC Work ongoing…

I hope that those will all surface BLOW US OUT OF THE WATER when they HIT US HARD with MS2024…

Come on Asobo/MS we need “some new details” FAQ or preferably Video for MS2024… ??? :star_struck: It’s been a long summer since Flightsim Expo 2023 in June…

I hope you are not right though?
I hope That It actually started way earlier in the timespan of MSFS2020 because there was a sudden silence about certain features… :astonished:

But you could be right

I’m sure the architectural directions started way before

I’m just speculating on that as most major work kind of slowed down around then, the AAU work I think is stuff that will port over to 2024 and mostly a different dev team. I figured the core sim team, along with new hires they have been making, are focused on the next gen.

Even SU13 is mostly an AAU update.

Not to drive your post off topic but do you have any recommended routes/locations in Norway to sim? I recently got the Arura Borealis package off the Marketplace. Something that looks good with the issues you mentioned above.

Norway is one of our family’s dream vacation destinations.

Hey, everying gets derailed right… at least “in some forums…”

Northern Norway sir! :smiley::ok_hand::+1:
Try something like Tromsø or Lofoten, perhaps even further North, Svalbard perhaps even, I think in mountainious area near the coast or out on the coast by boat/ship? I’m sadly not an expert on the phenomena you ask about, but I HAVE SEEN it a few times, but not as dramatic as it sometimes “can get” with the right conditions, I think it is a bit of Polar based natual-wonder so I would try quite far North or Svalbard

Norway is very Beatiful :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I can’t say anything less , sure we are not Tropical or Mediteranean BUT still Beatiful with lots of Fjords.

Meh, I live in a subtropical concrete jungle . Give me northern latitudes, night skies free of light pollution, vast empty spaces, seasons, humidity that doesn’t choke you, mountains, etc. and I’m at peace/home. You couldn’t pay me to visit the Mediterranean!

The fact you haven’t ventured up is interesting. I spent a bit of time up in Montana in the US and many of the people there I met had never visited Yellowstone or Glacier National Park. Those are just short car drives.
