External view keeps zooming in automatically

On External View - is there a way to stop the external camera from zooming in towards the aircraft automatically?
It is very annoying as I have to keep manually zooming out.

I have the problem with the two controls I have - Saitek Yoke and Throttle for fixed wing flying and also my Logitech 3D Pro joystick for helicopter flying.

I am using a keyboard key to activate my external view.

Recently my external camera zooms in 100% and the mouse wheel has stopped working completely.! T
his only happens in the external camera mode.
