As much as I love the classic Hornet, and am a 'teen series fighter completist, buying another F/A-18 would be pretty far down on my list.
I just hope the Asobo SuperHornet gets some added functionality with the Top Gun release.
Oh, I do hope AH will bring their P-51D soon, I dislike the Asobo version very much.
I doubt that the FA-18 can be modified in that way, and while we can add smoke like that, weâre not doing so at this time as it clashes with the ordinary exhaust smoke effect we already have. Maybe in the future though
Please donât âforgetâ my pilotđ„ł
Would it be possible to add a speed brake warning to the HUD like there is on the F15, please?
How could I forget It will appear eventually, as already mentioned.
@RenegadeGem973 If it appears in the real F-16âs HUD, yes, otherwise not.
The last F16s left here yesterday (BodĂž, Norway) to be sold for spares to Romania otherwise I would have phoned my mate. Heâs gone to learn to fly the F35A and is unavailable, unfortunately.
OMG !!! THIS WILL BE EPIC !!!
THANK you so much
Please, Dean, do not forget the tinted cockpit glass, for the next update.
Hey guys, i just got the f16 and im having some stuttering issues with it. It stutters a lot on the cockpit view (donât notice it on exterior view, but might be perspetive fault), doesnât happen on any other plane, not even on the f18. Its more noticible when rolling the plane, not a smooth motion. Also, my flight path indicator seems completly off compared to the f18, its always so up on the hud and completly inaccurate, canât even guide myself on landing with it, i gotta completly ignore it for a good landing, whereas the f18 is very accurate. Any help?
Hi, sorry to hear youâre having issues. I have heard that since the last minor sim update some people have noticed performance issues for all airplanes but nobody seems to know quite whatâs causing it. F-16s generally have very high performance ( due to careful modeling and native HTML gauges ) so I donât think itâs the aircraft themselves, and I donât have the issue here.
Are you on console or PC? Might be worth checking detail levels of graphics to see if that helps ( lowering them slightly ). The collimated HUD also works okay here, itâs not quite perfect yet but the VV is good for all but the last moments of touchdown, when it is better to place it on the end of the runway ( if youâre at correct landing weight, AoA and have the green circle in the indexer - if youâre too heavy, too fast or too slow then things will appear more inaccurate ).
Iâm not online much for the next 24 hours but hopefully
If it is included - this is not a high priority thing really and it can make transparencies more problematic, so I will only add it if it is very easy to do so and doesnât cause any issues. Should be okay, but Iâm not about to make any promises.
Would it be possible for someone, to create a mod for this?
I can ask, on flightsim.to
Thank you
Things that impact cockpit performance are texture resolution, shadows, reflections and glass instrument refresh rate. I would recommend setting your terrain and building LODâs to 10 for testing purposes. Also, I find that I need to âforgetâ how I fly other F-16 HUDâs and learn to work with the way DCDesigns has done theirs. Itâs giving you the same indicators, just in a slightly different fashion.
PC, the weird thing is I only get it with the f16. Iâve even lowered the details more than I usually run with and I still get the stutters
What computer specs do you have?
I will just confrim that the F16 works as flawlessly as all other planes
With the F16, I have about 30 FPS average, but it doesenât bother me at all, Iâm okay with that
Average, with some other aircrafts, 40 fps
( 4k resolution, RTX 3090, I9 12900k@ 5,1 GHz, 32 GB DDR4, 1 Gbps internet speed )
Ive had hands on experience with QF-16s. Some of them are test beds for next gen weapons like the AIM 260. They have been modified like crazy. WAY faster and easier for testing without endangering human life. Some have been contracted by BAE, Raytheon, and many other companies for testing just about everything from Avionics to ordinance. They are flown remotely unmanned from time to time. Its a better for training 2 pilots at once to capitalize on opportunity costs. Some have a gimbaled camera that can be precision adjusted for the height of the pilot. An actual good auto exposure, Adjustable field of view, Optical and digital zoom. Has been by dudes on a PC with a setup not too different than most of you have now. I dont imagine the experience is far off from flying this F-16C in game. If that helps anyones immersion in first person lol. They do have exterior cameras that are usually on separate screens.
I dont know how much info you can find because the testbed versions are kept very secret for obvious reasons. You will likely only find Boeings factory info. There are over a thousand in the US and thousands more around the world. I guarantee you its not going away soon. Now that there is no more defense spending on Afghanistan or Syria, The F-35 and other top priced projects are ramping up production. Cold War 2 is starting to seem more real. Something I always heard from some people outside the industry back in the Obama era. I never felt that vibe since I started in 2012. Very recently a real concern that isnât just the usual saber rattling with Taiwan. They are buying tons of F-16V right now and those things are not as stealthy as the F-35 but just as advanced with a faster top speed.
Here are some screenshots
The first one is with 2 in 1, internal view - lean outside and external
The blue sky from the cockpit view - lean left - outside, looks perfect
The other half, from the cockpit ( right side ) looks way too dark
The external view one look dark as well
And as a comparison, I uploaded with F18, as well
SDR or HDR, the darker difference is exactly the same
