I agree with you, but I can’t fly it because of the darker / tint / cockpit glass
Here another one, I disabled the HDR, or else, the printscreen would look ■■■■
No matter if SDR or HDR, it looks too dark from the cockpit view.
I’m just waiting for the F/A-18 from VRS. I have it for P3D and I think it’s the gold standard for modern military jets in flight sims outside of DCS. It’s going to be a long time though because they have to wait for Asobo to release enough developer tools to make it possible.
Hey, update on my stutter issue with the f16, ive recorded two videos, taking off from same location, same settings. One on the f18, and the other on the f16. The stuttering is very noticeable especially on rolls in the f16. Only stutter i get on the f18 is right on taking off because of fraps recording, with no recording doesnt happen, however in flight and especially rolling, 0 stutters.
Google drive with the videos, please take a look, and if anyone has any idea whats causing this please please help me, I love the F16, this is heartbreaking. Those initial stutters on the f16 footage might be the same ones that i got on the take off from the f18 footage due to the fraps recording. The stutters i have a problem with are the ones seen more at the end of the video on those last rolls, they are very subtle stutters, but on actual gameplay it throws me off very much and they are constant, recording or no recording, and are happening pretty much 99% of time, every roll stutters.
EDIT: I’ve seem to have figured out what’s causing the stutter, don’t realy know what to do about it tho. It seems to be the right info screen that has the flight path and the ground imaging. With it turned off i don’t get stutter i think from what ive tested. However that’s not really a fix, it displays important info and it sucks to have to play with it turned off. (ive turned off only the ground imaging too, but still stutters, only doesnt with the screen complettly off). Ive recorded a video of this too:
Whats your resolution and graphics settings ?
Do you use TrackIR or something ?
Pretty much everything low. No track IR. Thing is, this is a isolated problem i only get on the f16, so don’t realy think its a graphics problem. See my latest response here with the recorded videos, it seems to be the right screen’s fault on the cockpit.
Let’s see, if by flight path you mean the FLIR, that is, the 3D image projected in the PFD there is not much that can be done about it other than deactivating the FLIR (upper left button of the right PFD) to save resources, there are things that you can do that would save CPU calculations such as disabling the VOR / DME / airports information on the left screen. 3D projection is more of a GPU thing. I play with an rtx 3080 and I don’t have that problem you mention and even at 4K. One thing you can do is reduce the refresh rate of the glass cockpit in the graphics options and see if that fixes anything. But the only addition that this panel has compared to the others is precisely the FLIR.
Another thing that occurs to me is that if you use reflections in high detail, the information is also projected on the canopy and that also affects performance.
Disabling FLIR doesn’t solve it. Also ive tested further and with only that screen off still stutters, only way it doesnt stutter at all is with all avionics off. That way its butter smooth. Why only on the f16 tho? Other planes got tons of info too and calculations, like the f18, and i got no issue, its literally only the f16.
I’ll make a recording of switching the avionics off and on to see the stutter immediatly starting, give me a minute. ( altho fraps also gives some stutter, but the one caused by it, is obvious to see.)
edit: answering the reflections question, all is on low end preset.
edit2: here is the recording
I dont understand why only the f16, the one i paid for and worst of all, the one i love the most and i cant enjoy it, its just sad and really disencouraging. I was playing everyday having so much fun, finally bought my fav plane since i was a kid and now im not looking forward to play
Ive seemed to find a somewhat of a fix. Limiting the fps to 30 with vsync got rid of most of stutter with avionics ON, got few, but its a night and day difference. Still don’t understand why this only happens on the f16, its still a bit sad and a real stab in the back bs xd and also dunno why this fps lock makes such a difference given i already play at 30-40 fps with no locking. Normally from my experience with other games and even occasionally on msfs with other planes, drops from 40 to 30 dont usually cause stutter.
Edit: from further testing with developer fps tracking and usage, with no fps lock and avionics ON the stutters mostly happen when rolling the plane, i get MANY spikes of -10 fps (drops from 40 to 30). If i go straight i dont get as near much stutters. So maybe the motion of the terrain rolling around the cockpit triggers it.
Before you try a clean install, there may be an option to repair the install if you bought it from JF, no idea about the marketplace. It’s an option if you run the install executable.
Yeah ive done it. Ive found the root of the problem tho. Its the avionics. Turning them off game is smooth. Cant figure out if its messing with the gpu or cpu. Logic would go for cpu, but looking at graphs it seems its the gpu tho, weird. Weirder is this only happens with the f16. Other planes got avionics, f18 got avionics and i get no problems. F16’s my favorite, this hurts ;(
I replied to you on Facebook about this - if we figure out what might be causing it, we’ll fix it, but as with so many things MSFS related at this time, different people seem to have different experiences - most have no problems with frame rates in the F-16. I don’t, and I only have a GTX1080 system.
While it can seem a bit easy to blame the sim, the fact is that with this and other isolated issues, if the aircraft themselves were at fault, then everybody would have the same problem. The fact that they don’t does suggest something else is going on, but at this time without the ability to recreate the issue, I can’t really test for it.
ETA: I did read that one user said that the F-16 FLIR conflicted with the FBW airliner, not sure which one it was ( A320? ). I wonder if you have that installed also? Aircraft are not supposed to conflict with one another in MSFS, but it does seem to happen sometimes.
Can’t fly it? I think this is very much an over-reaction and the glass looks fine to me, not to mention the other users posting ( great ! ) images here. There is a slight tint because the real F-16 has a slight tint to it, that’s a real thing.
Also, this is not a support forum for such questions really ( as the moderators often point out ). The glass is a preference thing, not a fault with the airplane at all.
Only third party i have installed is the f16, and carrier addon. I’ve disabled carrier to see if it was conflicting and it wasn’t. The FBW airliner i don’t have. At least i didin’t install it. I got the Game of the Year Edition, it doesnt already come with it does it ?
Mind if i ask what cpu you using also? To have a base comparison, thanks.
Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.00 GHz with 16GB RAM
If you need any other help feel free to message again on Facebook as the moderators prefer this to be a discussion board rather than a support forum. However I doubt that I will be able to solve the issue remotely as it does seem to be rarely experienced. I hope that you can figure out what’s going on - my fear is that Asobo’s little updates have done something, somewhere that is upsetting some types of PC / set-up and not others, making it all very hard to troubleshoot.
Oh okey, didin’t know that, sorry to everyone and the mods. At this point what i really wanted to figure it out is if the problem is affecting gpu or cpu. Ive been observing the graphs closesly and can’t figure it out. I’ll keep trying, thank you.
Edit: One final thing, and not a support thing, more a doubt about a feature so i think its ok to ask in this discussion ? xD But how do you make the screens green? I’ve seen everyone running them green/night mode but i cant find where i toggle that on. Mine are black and white.
The screens are supposed to be black and white as that’s how they are ( mostly ) in the real F-16. I’m not sure whether they display differently at night, they don’t for me.
