“Ugly” - shut your moth! The XL was a beast of a plane and a LOT of people were upset the USAF didn’t continue with some YF models to test it in line service, followed by full-rate production. Some of the controversy was that the original concept for the F-16 was a good-weather air-superiority fighter. Loading it up with bombs was 100% against that concept.
Yet in reality, F-16’s have been used as ground-attack platforms almost since the beginning of their service lives, with the air-to-air role usually being covered by other aircraft. The XL concept created a much longer ranged version with all that internal volume available for the fuel, and look at the ordnance capacity! That’s 12 x 500 pound gravity bombs, two Sidewinders and four Sparrows. That thing would be the heart of the modern USAF’s ground-attack fleet today if the “Fighter Mafia” running the Air Force at the time had had any imagination.
Ok everyone. I am very sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else. Really enjoy this rendition of the F-16.
With that said I am trying to figure out what this constant clicking noise is when I turn the power on. Nothing else is on but when I click the power on it’s like a highspeed clicking noise. It almost sounds like when you have a computer fan that is failing and actually striking something in the fan housing.
Obviously this design is not as complex and realistic as the DCS version. Was not supposed to be. But this clicking noise is unusual as I have never heard it in DCS nor in real life. I have a lot of experience in the real aircraft.
I’ve looked at all of my bindings and actually removed everything just to isolate the issue.
Maybe this sound is by design. Unfortunately I have not heard it in any you tube review. Just wondering what I can do to rule out what this clicking is.
Ok. Figured it out. It was not the auto trim. It is the left hdpt switch. The one you click to turn the power on. After the engine is running I turned that switch off and the sound went away. Thanks for the help.
Edit… Right hdpt for power. The left one left on makes the clicking noise.
Do we have any idea if some of the visual issues with cockpit textures will be part of the updates coming with the Concord? Most notably those jagged edges on the canopy and the flight stick?
Are you talking about Concorde or the F-16s here? F-16s will also get a visual update but later in the year, F-15 updates and Concorde are the priorities right now.
LOL I was planning a flight with the F/A18 today and when i went into the sim, without noticing it,i chose the F16,load it up with weaponry and when i started in the airport and saw the plane,i was like WTH ?
It’s in my blood now i guess.I choose this bird without even knowing it
I mean, I love flying it myself, too, but you are really quite enthusiastic about it… Of course, this is NOT meant in a bad or offensive way, just noting and being amused in a positive way, because I just appreciate it when people can find so much joy in a nice addon instead of always trying to discuss everything down for every one instead of just moving on, that´s all.
It’s true my friend. Me and this F-16 are one !
I had one guy in another topic, accusing me of spamming this topic with @# emojis and “painted” pictures of this bird, like he meant that i am promoting these pics as being as they are by default, when on my side i have this topic here " MFS is more beautiful with a little extra touch " promoting the “little extra touch in MFS”
I laughed so hard that some people can’t understand a from the heart true appreciation for a developer who does his best for us,the humble simmers-customers.
I’ve said it before that me personaly i had 2 spine surgeries and the sim saved my sanity. When also this bird came out,i was more happy than ever. And then Dean also gave me the pilot
Cheers from Greece my friend
I spotted this on YouTube and was surprised that they hadn’t got more attention, some really great and realistic flying from a Thunderbirds team in MSFS flying the SC Designs F-16s
There are two MFS Thunderbird teams. One team has live pilots flying in each position and the other is one person recording the multiple position to create a final video. Although the final video looks great and I give him a lot of credit, it isn’t the live group flying. That video was created with JoinFS and is not the live team.
Ah, the great JoinFS. I did the same thing once with an older program in FS2004, and recorded a Red Arrows display with all nine Hawks. Still requires the same skills for the most part, although of course the display is the “same” each time you’re adding each airplane so it does become a little easier.
Do you have a link to the live Thunderbirds team? I’d be interested to see how they’re getting on.
Been having a bit of fun and passing the long January nights creating my first air base in the sim by doing a proper version of Nellis air force base in Las Vegas. Its coming along pretty well and its a great place to fly the F16 out of. I love flying from Nellis through the Grand Canyon low level and back to Vegas in the F16.
