I have to say that the F-16 being in the marketplace last night was the best thing that could’ve happened. If it hadn’t been there, I think it would’ve been another lackluster offering for those of us on the Xbox. I picked it up as soon as the marketplace updated and can’t wait to fly it!
Its finally here! Ive been waiting months for this. Bought it first thing this morning and love it. It flies fantastically and the sound is incredible too.
Very very happy with this thank you so much for all the hard work its took to get it here.
Ive finally got my plane!
Was flying this morning, huge grin on my face.
Nice stable I have now with the F-16, F14 and F-15 I wonder what other treats we will see… what’s in the pipeline for military jets boys? Harrier ??? Come on, say it….
Next up Concorde
I just bought the f16 it has been released to console
let’s go one by one
: for now all our resources are put in finish the concorde (in fact, I am participating very little in the forums due to the hours I dedicate to the project), then updates for f-14 and f-15 after what we learned from concorde retroactively, and then whathever have to come! Harrier is one of our targets, probably the next one.
Ah okay. Must have been a Flightsim.to download then, though thought only had one downloaded from there.
Hey Dean can you make the f16 viper demo team skin pls
Sadly we can’t include everything as the package would be too big and we get so many requests - the F-16 carries so many different liveries in real life.
@Kynaigeiros7 Dassault are one of the few manufacturers who won’t let flight simulator developers build their aircraft, it’s why you rarely see Mirages in the sims.
Can you atleast make the shaw afb skin the one that says SW
There is Mirage 2000 in DCS and will be Mirage F.1 soon
DCS is irrelevant here, this is an MSFS forum. There are ways to buy the rights to produce an airplane, which most manufacturers don’t demand as long as their TM isn’t used in any way. The reason is that the cost of doing so is prohibitive to most developers and 3D designers. Dassault, as far as I can recall, do demand it even in the case of freeware products, hence the lack of their airplanes in flight simulation.
Sorry if I missed some discussion above. I’ll take a look at some earlier messages later.
My question is, how accurate is the flight model? If anyone has any experience with the F-16 module in DCS (which AFAIK has still some issues when it comes to the flight model), how does the MSFS add-one compare? (ONLY IN TERMS OF FLIGHT MODEL).
I thought the F-14 was pretty good, so I can’t see this being another SU-57, but for me to buy this plane even if (hopefully) the F-35 is close to release (on console) it has to be pretty special.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but is the aircraft supposed to be capable of powering itself beyond the point of instability? I went up to ~33,000ft and set full afterburners to see how long it would take to hit top speed. I figured something might be wrong when I crossed ~M2.7, and not long after the whole aircraft basically yeet’d itself into oblivion.
that should not happen, unless there is a bug in live weather, I would suggest you do a test with live weather disabled.
at 30000ft you should be at 1.9-2.0 ish
Will do, I was pretty shocked. The aircraft actually started to pull away from the in-cockpit camera, and I saw it start accelerating rapidly after about M2.7. The highest speed I saw before I totally lost control was around M3.4.
Well, recently we heard from real F-16 pilots via a follower whose wife flies Vipers with a squadron based in Florida. They considered it a “great and realistic rendition of the F-16” so I’m taking that as a win
Apparently, the SC Designs F-16 flight model is actually a little more accurate than the one in DCS, especially in the low-airspeed, high-alpha regime. I don’t own DCS but that comment came from a DCS user who also enjoys MSFS.
CodenameJack builds our flight models from real-world data for the airplanes, so aside from any MSFS quirks that occasionally pop up, it’s pretty good in terms of realistic flight characteristics.
Here’s the first display video I did with it - it’s old now and the recorder used makes the interior views act “jerky” but it’s enough to show how the airplane handles in an airshow-type setting when being flown correctly;
Wow, thank you for your answer! I’ve heard similar complaints about the DCS F-16 as well, that’s why I added that the DCS flight model isn’t perfect.
I’ll definitely take a look at that video and I guess a praise from a real pilot is about as good as it gets
I’ve caught up a bit with the thread and overall it seems a very high-quality add-on.
Thanks for your answer in particular, it definitely helped me making up my mind, and after reading week after week about CodenameJack’s work on Concorde I have no doubt about the quality of his work.
Thanks again, can’t wait for Concorde and the Harrier
those are definitely day-one purchases from me
Seems to be working ok in non-live weather. Capping out around M1.85 at 33,000ft. Engaged live weather after about 10min and no change, so it must’ve just been some sim weirdness.
thanks for reporting it. In any case, I am going to seriously investigate this phenomenon, even if it is to place a drag wall at 2.2 so that the plane stops having this behaviour.
Loaded in at Miramar and there were at least 4 others in the F16, even managed to do a formation takeoff with two others. Good times.
