F-16 by SC Design

I am running the F16 on PC bought from simmarket version 0.7.

Somethings I found which may help.

Texture of F16C intake, ladder and exhaust nozzle multi texture. Fix: in community folder copy misc texture from D version common textures to C version common texture. One can even open these 2 textures to compare.

Buttons stopped working. In my case found that it was a 3rd party free scenery addon. When i loaded a flight at that airport some buttons did not work. Load a flight up at default airport all buttons worked. (Lights, transponder etc)

Visual sensor fins on nose cone. These are linked to the IFF button on left console. Toggle this button on and off for the fins to display or not.

Great aircraft to fly.

I been flying on vatsim.

It would be cool to hit the L5 from stdy comm have the frequency copy and hit the active. But it looks like you need to punch the frequency in and set it.

Very strange how a 3rd party scenery can stop buttons working in an airplane. How they managed it is beyond me.

The problem I reported a month ago still exist.

I wasn’t able to before, but now I have actual video evidence of the same game load, three different airports, 2 different Hud readouts. If I’m on a runway, regardless of where I am in the world, the updated HUD should read feet above ground, should it not?

Well, if it should, here is video evidence showing the first airport I departed from, the HUD reading is not accurate according to how it should be if I had the updated version. I choose a 2nd runway, and now the HUD reads correct.
A month ago when I reported this, I was met by CodemanJack and SilentG37 as it being a user error or me not having the updated aircraft, despite me being adamant I did. I have the updated version, as I was claiming a month ago.

There doesn’t seem to be anything I can observe that makes it go one way or another. Sometimes it will start off correct, and then it will change to the old way, other times it’s like what you see here where it starts off incorrect, but then it’s corrected.

However unlike a month ago, the bigger problem is how slow the jet(s) compared to how it should be after the update.

Can I fly the F-16 that is as fast as everyone elses? Can I get the F-16 that has the updated HUD you guys put work into fixing?

PS-I also posted a video in the F-15 thread showing how I deleted the F-15 from my folder, loaded the sim up, updated/installed the F-15 from marketplace, and immediately had the old Hud and old performance.

So the plane is purchased (F-15) from in game store, but you deleted it manually? Then reinstalled?

Same for F-16? I think you should only delete stuff you bought from the marketplace via Content Manager in the game. Then quit the sim, check local Community folder (also check there is no mention of it in /Packages I think, or /Official/OneStore) to verify that it’s gone).

Also check in SimObjects/Airplanes/xxxxxx for the folder and delete the folder of that plane - eg sc-designs-f16 inside that /Airplanes folder (WARNING - if you’re not worried about keeping your log of hours for that plane as this will reset it).

Also delete Content.xml file in the root of the FlightSimulator folder.

Then restart and reinstall it. Quit and open the sim again after it installed before flying it. Might not make a difference but worth a try as it sounds like a conflict with old files somewhere.

EDIT: am not on PC now to check but I think there is another folder within the FS root directory that holds Config files for purchased content. Check each of those folders after you uninstall, but I’d like to think deleting via Content Manager would be clever enough to delete everything related to the plane in question!

Thank you SO much for taking your time read the problem and offer a solution. It totally sounds like it’s a conflict with old files somewhere. I will cross my fingers and try your suggestion(s) and really really hope it works because I assume if it fixes the issue with one, it will fix it with the other 2.

There were aircraft in simobjects that had older dates so that gave me hope that that was the problem. I deleted those, however same problems.
I deleted the Content.xml file
Restarted, re-installed.

After loading the sim up after another re-install, immediately old Hud reading, performance that of the old version.
- YouTube tried this individually with the F-16 and F-14 and same results.

What I’m going to do now, is do a fresh installation of the entire sim. Emptying out all my folders, and when I have re-installed the sim, the first and only add ons I will install, will be these 3.

Surely, that would have to resolve this issue but it feels like this is way extra.

Accidental proof that other people besides myself claim to also have updated F-16 but yet, am I the only one to observe what the HUD read out says when on the ground from the above user’s video? At the end it says he too is supposed to be on the updated version…

Just bought the aircraft in the marketplace on xbox. I can choose external stores (tanks, missiles) on the preflight panel, but the external model is completely naked. This looks odd, real vipers hardly ever fly with nothing on the wingtip launchers because of the antiflutter balancing weight provided by wingtip missiles. The fuel bags should show as well imo.

Compared to a viper in another sim, I find the external model merely functional, well below par and not what I’d expect in a payware module that costs over 15 bucks.

Is it early access and will these things be improved or is it as-is and should I just ā– ā– ā– ā–  and enjoy what there is for what it is?

It’s because of the game’s E rating. No weapons or stores will show, at least not on Xbox.

Nor will they on PC, if the aircraft is bought through the in-game marketplace. Microsoft/Asobo will not allow even a visual representation of weapons.

This has been discussed to death ever since the very first military aircraft add-ons came to the sim.

You’re not lying, but it seems the only way people find out is the hard way. I had to learn too. Aesthetically it looks cool but it does add weight to the aircraft and I like flying the jets with minimum weight.

Sorry, not trying to pick on you. It just seems like every few months another argument about it breaks out where people think if they explain X number of reasons why MS/Asobo’s policy is dumb that the policy will change, when it simply won’t, and so some of us get irritable when it comes up now.

Fuel tanks are visable on the xbox/marketplace version.
At min you need to add weight to them AFTER you arr in sim(apron, runway)
Just bring down your top menu and select the weight option. There needs to be atleast 10% fuel in each tank for it to appear on the aircraft.
This applies across the DC/SC F teen range.
