Hi there,
in the last few days I have really enjoied the F18, but for whatever the reason, it seems that the F18 does not follow the flight plan imported into the World Map from LittleNavMap.
If I generate the flight plan within the sim, in the Worl Map, the F18 flies pretty well and follows the way point sequence.
Has someone of you guys experienced the same ?
If so, have you been able to fix it ?
I can obviously keep on planning the flights directly in the World Map, but when it comes to VFR I really like to make the plans in LittleNavMap, exporting it in the MSFS format, then importing it in the sim, and it works fine with all the planes but the F18
It’s been a while since I’ve flown the F-18, but I do recall having some issues with LittleNavMap flight plans. I apologize, but I can’t remember for sure what I had to do to get the plane to follow the route, but I was able to do it. There seemed to be an issue though, in that the F-18 appeared to store a limited number of waypoints from the flight plan. Once you reached that limit, you were on your own.
Ciao N913TH,
I will surely watch the suggested video, Tks !
It is strange but true that sometimes it works fine, sometimes not.
I thought could be a kind of compatibility problem with LittleNavMap because If I plan exactly the same route in the World Map, then the F18 fly pretty well, almost perfect I would say
Both of the linked video tutorials were the first I watched before starting to fly the F18
I think I have watched almost all the tutorials available on YouTube hihihihi, but nothing was mentioned about LittleNavMap flight plans imported inyo MSFS World Map and then available in the F18 MFD …
You’ll be happy to know that I was able to create a flight plan in Little NavMap, import it into MSFS, and fly the route in the F-18. I’ll put together some screenshots for you to show how I did it, and will send you a PM.
So we know that, for whatever the reason, if we skip the Waypoint 0 and 1, coupling in the MFD the waypoint 2, then the flight plan is executed as it should be.
I usually press the SEQ1 softkey in the bottom right corner of the MFD, and by doing so the route is visualized in the MFD as a dotted line, then I press “Auto” and couple the SEQ1 in the AP panel …This procedure is what I usually did, and it worked fine if the FP was created in the in-sim World Map. Now, this same procedure works fine also with FP imported from LittleNavMap by simply skipping the first two waypoints (namely the 0 and the 1)
CPL SEQ works here on an imported LNM flight plan starting using WYPT 1 without any issues, it just doesn’t start properly using WYPT 0 , but that was expected as WYPT 0 will always be the lat/long where the jet started up.
Apologies… I didn’t mean to exclude everybody. I think I might have made the solution a bit more complex and lengthy than it needed to be, but again, it’s been a long time since I’ve flown the F-18. As Asroflier indicates, you basically import the Little NavMap plan into MSFS as you normally would, but when you fly the plan in the F-18, you have to skip waypoints 0 and 1.
Hi guys,
in the end I think I have figured out the solution.
Actually I have noticed something I had previously overseen …
In a nuthsell: the sequence of operations is as follows:
import the LittleNavMAp into MSFS World Map
once onboard the F18 in the right side MFD press TAC Menu, then HSI, SEQ1, WYPT and select waypoint 1
takeoff and manually fly towards waypoint 1, while gaining altitude up to the desired altitude, for instance 3.000ft, once reached 3.000 ft select (click) BALT in the Auto Pilot screen
press AUTO in the MFD downleft corner …in the center of MFD the CPL SEQ1 message blinks - Be careful that Waypoin is till 1 or if it has already overflown, that it is now set to 2 …this is where the problem happened …I have now noticed that for whatever the reason, when you activate the AUTO, the waypoint counter goes back to 0 …if this happens, reselect 1 or 2 as needed.
in the Auto Pilot screen, select CPL SEQ1
From now on, the F18 will automatically move to the next coming way point without any intervention
Note: if you stay below 5.000ft, instead of BALT (Baro Altimeter), you can activate the RALT (radio Altimeter), in this mode, the F18 will maintain same altitude above ground level, rising or descending according to the terrain below …
I attach few pictures of the beginning of a short flight from LIMC to LIME, to fly clockwise over the Garda Lake and then over Como Lake (as per picture 1)
Hope this can be useful to you as it was to me :-))
