ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue: FA18 HUD washes out in clouds and MFDs are far too dim.
I’ve flown the FA18C in DCS and FA18F in MSFS 2020 extensively for comparison. There are two issues in MSFS-2024:
- HUD completely washes out in clouds even on maximum brightness. The HUD should render in front of the cloud, providing a high contrast with the bright background and remaining highly readable. US Navy pilots don’t lose situational awareness because it’s bright out.
- MFDs are FAR too dim, even at max brightness. This doesn’t really need any more explanation, just see screenshot. At max brightness, they should be quite bright.
Addtl:
I’d guess this is an MSFS game engine issue, that it’s taking a single brightness value for the point on screen, adding the brightness of the cloud and HUD together, thus making the HUD illegible. This is incorrect - the HUD should render separately from the clouds, providing a high contrast to the bright cloud behind it and remaining legible even with high background brightness.
