Make a post in Wishlist - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums about it, it’s the only way it’ll get seen. They don’t trawl this thread for feature requests.
I’m still slightly skeptical about whether they really look anywhere in this forum with any regularity. I mean, look at the bug report I made about the landing gear being too tall - still no indication that it’s even been seen by anyone on the team.
Or if they have seen it, they need to communicate that instead of remaining silent. To me, that’s just another example of how their communication has been completely failing for the past couple of years.
Don’t get me wrong, I still appreciate everything they do, but there are still a bunch of things they need to do better.
I mean, I agree, it seems unlikely that wishlist items will ever get done – but what will 100% never get done are one off posts in this general thread asking for things.
The new B707 is one of my favorite airplanes to fly, and recently the only MSFS 2024 airplane that I have been flying. The systems are actually quite good, although I have seen some differences between the aircraft behavior and the Boeing FCOM from 2008 that is widely available. There were so many different airline-specific variations that it’s difficult to tell if something that’s missing is nothing more than an airline option or the result of perpetual progress in the development of the aircraft.
I would say that the only grip that I have is the option for a full-passenger configuration option. While the -300C model was popular, the aircraft was operated in its full passenger configuration most often. I hope the eventual growth of the model will bring a full passenger configuration.
Manual v4.1 — References to missing chapters
Hi MSFS / Working Title team,
First of all, congratulations on your work on the Boeing 707-320C! It has become one of my favorite aircraft in the simulator. I really enjoy classic aircraft, and learning its systems and procedures has been a pleasure.
I hope you continue improving this aircraft over time. I would happily pay a few extra dollars for further improvements and additional features for this 707!
While reading manual v4.1, I noticed some references to sections that do not appear to be included in the document:
-
Section 6.4 — Wet Takeoff Procedure refers to Chapter 33 for takeoff performance data and EPR targets. However, both the table of contents and the manual itself end at Chapter 32.
-
The introduction to Chapter 28 — Virtual Flight Engineer refers to Appendix §35.4 for detailed flow descriptions, although these descriptions appear to be provided in Chapter 30.
Could you please clarify whether these are outdated cross-references or whether additional content is available in a separate document?
This clarification would be very helpful, especially when studying takeoffs using water injection.
Thank you for your work and your attention!
If someone can show me a video of them successfully doing an aileron roll in this then I will retract this, but considering there’s video of it being done IRL, the flight model seems way off. Once it gets halfway it just refuses to bank and drops out of the sky. But I admit, it could be user error too. I would have expected that recreating Tex Johnson’s roll would have been part of the QA process for any 707 release.
Tex Johnston was flying the Boeing 367-80 which was a very different aircraft in comparison to the burly, lumbering 707-320C. That airplane had an AUW of just 86.2 tonnes and wings that were much thinner and smaller in area with no kinks or dogtooths or trailing edge modifications. It handled way differently to the latter which was modified aerodynamically to increase its lateral as well as directional stability.
Thank you for the detailed explanation, I wasn’t aware they did so many modifications. I guess I should have researched the type more before purchase. Was a bit of an impulse buy as it’s on sale.
