I thought the Talon was the plane you got in case you preordered the PS5 version. Maybe that is the reason.

It was, but was then released as Famous Flyer 13 (I believe) on all platforms free of charge.

Talon was a preorder bonus for PS5 users. For a bonus to have value, it has to be a paid item for others.

Most of the Famous Fliers are paid items; there was an exception around the launch of 2024 when MS decided to give “apology planes” after the rough launch.

Boom XB-1 was a gift to the community. MS does these periodically, like the 40th Anniversary planes.

Due to the issues with the launch of 2024, Jorg decided to give several planes away for free. I forget how many. The Boom XB-1 may have been one of those planes. Also, it’s a pretty special plane in Jorg’s eyes, so, that might have had something to do with it, too.

Plus all the things everyone else said.

How is this bird?

I’m not looking for a price/value relation but rather for a comparison to a) other MS aircraft and b) other aircraft from Blackbird.

This High Flight always brings back memories, I was in pilot training at Laredo AFB when they filmed it. One of my ‘38 instructors was flying that T-38, Gary Combs.
