Famous Flyer VI: Ford 4-AT Trimotor

I’m really struggling too. Got the left engine to start. Once. And nothing after that. Sometimes the checklist says “On” but I’m unable to tell if the visual cue is actually on or off.

I have the exact same issue. I never was able to get the center or right engines started.

I could get them to turn over, but not catch and fire up.

I figured out how to start them. The checklist is not very clear…

you pump the primer THREE TIMES ONLY

Then when the engine solenoid kicks into crank, you apply magnetos.

I think it was mainly getting flooded and dying.

Can’t move into the cabin with the ALT+arrow keys because this door blocks you from entering the cabin unlike the JU-52 otherwise the AT-4 Trimotor s a beauty!

Though that’s minor quibble-can explore the cabin with the drone camera (but then can’t save/recall a custom cabin view that way).

Flying the Trimotor around FlyTampa Sydney:

Didn’t even know AH was behind the Trimotor!

Neat lil touch when you open the luggage door:

Such a gorgeous model. Thanks, MSobo!

I’m ahead I guess. I can get left then center to start but not right. :frowning:
Really cool plane though, iconic. Start on runway and enjoyed it greatly!

This was super helpful, thanks for the tip!

There is a couple different cockpit setup out there for the tri. can find at least 3, the one show on the model, one on the photo and another that’s slanted.

To those of you at Wittman right now, thanks for posing for picture on the grass! Very COOL!

true but none with that kind of lateral windows. it looks as if a piper cub j3 and a trimotor had a baby and the baby looked more like the ford trimotor but it has the eyes (cockpit glass) of the j3 cub. Cockpit section looks closer to a stinson tri motor rather than a ford trimotor

There were quite a few different versions of the Trimotor with various windshield/ cockpit designs. Including a swept forward, swept back and straight windshield.

I don’t know all Trimotor variants, because of the various engines fitted the nose of the aircraft can vary a lot. But I think you’re right, I can’t find a version with tall windows like that (doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist), especially the cockpit side windows. I think it’s probably because the nose is too flat.

Another detail, the round window of the bathroom is way too big.

I feel bad pointing these things out, as we got the plane for free! I’m just a bit surprised, so far, all previous LL and FF releases were quite accurate.

I fully agree with you and i’m aware of the versions… It`s a strange occurence this little fella… yea and that window is way too big i thought i’d see a radio antenna somehow! haha joking. sure, its free but we had better. and i think the engine sound in the cockpit needs a little working. well at least its something. for me its a very strange feeling seeing it like that as i love this plane since way back during the days of FS2004
