Hello Just bought a new Dell with Win 11Home version 23H2
I reinstalled FS2020 (MS Store) without problem and when I tried to install the FastLaunch address, the computer tells me that cmd.exe is not here…
I had for 4 years Windows 10 and had to reinstall FS2020 along with the FastLaunch without any problem…
Is there an issue between the FastLaunch option and Win 11?
Thanks for your help
J-Louis
This works:
C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\FlightSimulator.exe -FastLaunch -showFramerateMini
Delete the -showFramerateMini if you don’t want it.
There’s no need CMD. You just need to create a shortcut to the flightsimulator.exe file and add the -fastLaunch switch in its properties. You can find an example of how to do this with the -showFramerate switch in the link below. Just replace -showFramerate with -fastLaunch, save the changes and you’re good to go.

It says "the file C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\FlightSimulator.exe -FastLaunch cannot be found
- am starting to hate Win 11 !!!
Under target location, Target field is grey so it cannot be changed
I’ve had the same problem, and I don’t know when it started. I used to be able to point a batch file at that location and launch the sim. No longer. I still haven’t figured out why.
I ended up using this, which does a fastlaunch and runs FSUIPC7.
FSUIPC7 v7.4.17
for MSFS [ONLY]
For reference, here’s the line in the batch file that launches it:
cmd.exe /C start Shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App -FastLaunch
I suppose you could REM out the FSUIPC7 launch in the batch file, but I like having it running.
It seems to me that you didn’t create a shortcut directly to the flightsimulator.exe file. You’re trying to edit an existing shortcut that was created during installation or one that you made using the Xbox app – that’s not how it works.
As I mentioned before, you don’t need CMD or third-party programs like FSUIPC to quickly launch MSFS. You simply need to correctly create a new shortcut on the desktop to the flightsimulator.exe file.
Please type the following command into the search bar and press Enter.
C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content\
If a new window opens, you should find the flightsimulator.exe file there. If it’s present, that means this is the default folder for the MSFS launcher.
Now, right-click on the flightsimulator.exe file and select Show more options > Send to > Desktop (create shortcut).
Right-click on the shortcut you just created and select properties.
In the “Target” field add -fastLaunch
at the end of the line (after the existing path) making sure to include a space before it.
Click Apply and then OK.
Did not find theFS exe file… I guess I will have to live with the Asobo/MS ads
I thank you for your help and wish I did not have to deal with Win 11
On File Explorer, select the C: drive.
Search for FlightSimulator.exe.
If it does not find it, then you don’t have FS2020 installed.
Oh, just noticed.
You don’t use “userid”.
Replace it with your userid.
Display C:\users and see what yours is.
Please open the Xbox app. On the left side, right-click on Microsoft Flight Simulator and select Manage. Then click on Files > Browse. If a new window opens, maximize it and take a screenshot. Please attach the screenshot in your response.
Could you also user the variable %user%
??
Anyone know whether this fastlaunch method would work out of the box in FS2024? Or does it depend on how Asobo implements the sim?
The availability of switches depends on whether they are included in the game code, which also encompasses files like .exe, .dll, etc. We’ll have to patiently wait for the release of MSFS 2024 or let’s call it the early access version.
