5600x 3070 32gb
Running
Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS100T2B0C
Can I get significantly faster load times going with Gen 4 ?

a gen 4 is about 3500MB/s depending on which one you get , will msfs load fast , just a little but most loading time goes into downloading ( streaming ) the needed data.
what you Will notice is that windows will startup a Lot faster…
next question does your motherboard support a gen4 ?
With Gen3, my SSD (mine has 3470MB/s read) isn’t nearly used to the limit by MSFS, so I highly doubt it’d change anything noticeably for you.
Even Windows boot times won’t be noticeably quicker with Gen4 since the SSD isn’t the bottleneck either.
I think you mixed them up. Gen4 is usually around 7000MB/s, like the midrange WD Black SN850.
Right it was time for coffee So double the data transfer …
Cheers
Posted a thread here for reference on gen4 vs gen3, for me, no change:
