We need more fauna in MSFS24. Variety should be increased, birds, sea animals and overall just more in the living environment. It’s all too possible to never see any fauna playing this sim for hours even in helicopters or low flying planes. I am yet to see an alligator like the ones in the trailer or a migrating herd. I hope the fauna section gets an update.

I saw some deer at the end of a runway I was taxing to. They ran off when I approached. It was pretty cool but that is all I have encountered in free flight.
I agree - I’d particularly like to see birds wheeling around their nesting areas on cliffs & off-shore islands.

Agreed, but realistic fauna. In the current state, I experienced buffaloes over KMIA..

Also, this is not clear how are spread each species on the planet. They seams too restricted to an area. For example, in the World Photographer mode, we can search wolves in just a few squares in Europe. However, wolves are present all over the Northern emisphere:
In the same World photographer mode, polar bears can be searched for in just some areas of the Hudson bay. However, they are everywhere around the pole :

And I would love to watch herds of thousand reindeer / caribou in the North of Canada but no clue if they are present at all in the sim. At least, they are modeled in the game (available in the SDK) :

Here’s my list of suggestions for additional fauna, especially for regions which don’t have much wildlife yet:
- Red deer and/or roe deer in most of Europe. Deer are the only common large wildlife in Central Europe other than the very rare occurrences of wolves, bears and Alpine ibex.
- Reindeer resp. Caribou in N. Europe resp. N. Canada, as suggested above already.
- Saiga antelope in Central Asia
- Oryx/Gemsbok in Namibia. (The gemsbok is actually on Namibia’s coat of arms.) Would be nice to see them around the Namib desert, for instance.
- Penguins of whatever species in Antarctica (Just replaces the trees there with penguins and all is well.
) - Maybe even gorillas in central Afrika, e.g. Congo. But this is the least sensible suggestion as they would be virtually impossible to spot in the forests, just like the tigers and monkeys in FS2024.
P.S. That said I believe it is more important that Asobo corrects the distribution /range of the existing species in the game first, specifically …
- No European buffalo in the alps, please. They do not occur there naturally.
- The 7 (!) giraffe (sub)species should not all occure side by side randomly everywhere but only in those regions of Africa where they really occur. Wikipedia has a map for this.
- There’s a species mix-up of bears with the sun bear from SE asia occurring in the European Alps and Russia and some North Asian brown bear species ocurring in SE asia instead (bug logged here)
- As stated above already, the polar bear distribution in FS2024 is inadequate compared to real life.

Animals spawn randomly during the flight within very large areas, and there can be many herds or packs in a region, so it would need dynamical POI markers for every flight, and it could only show the animals that already have spawned, Therefore “animal POIs” cannot currently be shown on the world map. They only exist during a flight.

… but since the whole point of the World Photographer missions is to find animals on your own, this is cheating in my opinion. (I only used it for “research purposes” after having found the vast majority of the animals myself.)

Seb mentionned a density map in FS24 to spot concentration of animals in the Dev stream at 50:00 min. Anyone found it?

Mmm. I thought there was something else like filters in the free flight hub with species to choose.
i found a way. Put in seach box in world view, the species name you are after. Kangaroos will show you all kangaroos placed in sim. Put the species name in plural like gorillas, crocodiles etc.
every animal species doesnt show, but some do or is it my sofly animal addon thats showing, maybe thats it

Thanks. You have inspired me to dig around in Dev Mode and I’ve come up with some new animals for us to find! I’ll put it on a new post Crocodiles, Chimpanzees and Pandas! More animals to find..
