FD pitch angle question

Hello,

I have a question regarding the FD pitch, I’ll do my best explaining the question.

I’m cruising, hand flying FD on a set HDG and altitude, now I change the altitude from 10.000 to 13.000 how does the FD determine the amount of pitch up, and is this the same for a Cessna and 737?

Thanks in advance!

That depends on the FD mode you are using.
E.g. pitch, flightlevel change or vertical speed.
Concerning the difference between a Cessna and a 737, that depends on the Cessna. (150? 550? 650? 750?)

If you are hand flying at 1000ft & you select 13000 ft with no vertical mode selected i.e V/S, FLC or Vnav, the bars should remain at level flight. When you select a vertical mode, the bars should show the relative climb angle for the mode selected.
Remember that all the modes selected are FD modes & become AP & F/D modes if the AP. is engaged.
In older A/c such as 707’s etc. the F/D was a standalone system & not coupled to the AP. so the F/D could be in one mode & the AP in a different mode. Interesting
