Hi!
We’re celebrating Women’s History Month with routes of famous female explorers! This week we’re flying near one of the areas Jeanne Baret passed while becoming the first woman to circumnavigate the globe.
Hope to see you there!
Jules
From her Wikipedia article:
Jeanne Baret (27 July 1740 – 5 August 1807) was a member of Louis Antoine de Bougainville’s expedition on the ships La Boudeuse and Étoile in 1766–1769. Baret is recognized as the first woman to have completed a voyage of circumnavigation of the globe, which she did via maritime transport. Jeanne Baret joined the expedition disguised as a man, calling herself Jean Baret. She enlisted as valet and assistant to the expedition’s naturalist, Philibert Commerçon (anglicized as Commerson), shortly before Bougainville’s ships sailed from France. According to Bougainville’s account, Baret was herself an expert botanist.

Flight Plan: JeanneBaretSouthAmerica.pln (3.4 KB)
Airplane: I’ll be in a King Air, but a jet (like the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet or the Aero Vodochody L-39 from Reno Air Races) would be a lot of fun for this route. So a King Air or similar to stay with the group, or a jet to dive in and out of glacial valleys.
Weather: High-Level Clouds
Liftoff Time in Sim Time: 3:00pm (6:00pm UTC)
Rough flight path: SCDV->SCNT, cruising around 8,000’, with occasional descents for e.g. flamingos
