Hello everyone,
I’m posting this to help a friend who is experiencing a strange issue with the Fenix A320 in MSFS 2024.
During landing, Engine Master 2 switches to OFF automatically exactly at touchdown, at the precise moment the wheels touch the runway. It does not happen during the flare or when deploying the reversers, the Master 2 simply moves to OFF right at touchdown.
We initially suspected a throttle/input issue, as he is using a WinWing throttle, but we have also found reports of similar issues with other hardware, including Thrustmaster throttles.
We have already checked the MSFS control bindings and nothing appears to be incorrectly assigned to Engine Master 2 or the related engine controls.
The issue seems to occur only with the Fenix A320.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or is there a known workaround or possible cause for this?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Not seen this personally, I’ve also just searched their Discord and nothing obvious comes up. Have you tried “search by input” in the keybinds, like do all you would do when flaring and touching down to see if any weird binds are showing up, sounds like a control spike of some kind but very odd if so. Are the spoilers armed to deploy automatically or are they manually deploying? (Just trying to rule things out)
Other than that, try a complete reinstall of the plane.
Edit: I can see you may have posted this in the Fenix Discord. I’m curious to see what the solution is.
Open your simulator control settings.Select your throttle device.Move the physical lever from idle to full forward.Watch the input axis meter on your screen.Look for sudden drops to zero at the idle stop.Add a small deadzone if you see a spike.
Thanks for the suggestions! We actually found the cause in the end. It was the “Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust” binding, which was accidentally assigned to the Engine 2 throttle. This was causing the Engine Master 2 to switch OFF exactly at touchdown.
Really appreciate you taking the time to look into it!
At a time when I have become a bit depressed by the sometimes entitled, aggressive and vitriolic nature of the forum, this thread is a delightful example of what the forum can be. The OP politely and fully described a problem, a couple of people equally politely chipped in with some suggestions and the OP finally thanked people for their responses and properly and fully described the solution and marked the thread as solved.
A small thing for sure, but still. My thanks and appreciation to all concerned
I’m glad you found the issue and resolved it; I just bought a WINCTRL throttle and would be rather annoyed if it shut down ENG2 every time I landed. I will keep this thread bookmarked for reference when I set everything up this weekend.
