Just a few short weeks to go until FS2024 becomes availiable. Yet still NO xbox footage, none, not a sniff either from MS/Asobo themselves or any 3rd party content creator.
Why is this? Is it not ready? Is it not good enough? Dont they care about the xbox users requests to see what they are being sold? Will promotional footage be labelled with a large “not actual xbox footage” banner?
Seriously other smaller titles advertise with teaser footage so why cant MS/Asobo?
Do they not even consider that console users would like to see how their new title performs on their chosen platform?
Its all mightily suspicious with such a short time til release and with so many console user already preordering that this portion of the market is completely in the dark.
Also out of curiosity how many console users feel they are being deliberately ignored?
Make your voice heard here if your a console user.
Speak up or we wont be heard
Why are you assuming the console footage would be any different to PC? The whole point is that the sim should play the same on Xbox so i’m not really sure what your point is? Have you seen any promotional footage that says “PC only?” I haven’t.
I feel for the Xbox crowd. It would certainly be reassuring to see 2024 performing on an Xbox in a way that is vastly superior to the current state of 2020 on Xbox.
Did Jorg not say in one of the sessions that they were playing it on xbox in the office or something to that effect? What i would say is that the bulk of the changes that have been made are again to make it more performant on Xbox, so I’d be very surprised if you were worse off. (As long as you have good internet)
I, personally, don’t think Xbox users will be worse off, but after the debacle of the last sim update, it is completely understandable that they are looking for some visual assurances that the sim is massively improved.
I’m sure they are still waiting on the Xbox Teams to provide a new GDK. The same GDK that should have fixed SU15 with the beta SU16 that we were gonna get in Sept/Oct. I’m pretty sure they said the new 2024 sim will be launching with that “miracle GDK” that will give 500mb more or ram and they had a “workaround” for V-Ram…
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The silence and secrecy is breeding a culture of despondency.
Which would indeed save alot of CTDs, Black Avionics and poor terrain LoD for many users. But as @NixonRedgrave rightly explains, we would appreciate some visual confirmation of this.
To exclude us ney mushroom us can only breed suspicion
The major lack of pre release beta is troubling, either MS/Asobo are very happy that it’ll release without any major issues or they know they’ll have some and come out with the marketing ploy of a “Day 1 patch” or something shortly after.
Whilst the overall lack of official gameplay videos, both PC and Xbox is one thing, the lack of a beta gets alarm bells ringing for me. It’s all well and good releasing updates thereafter as we got with MSFS2020, but they’re releasing next month as Version 1.0, so it needs to be as bug/issue free as possible.
From all the outlets and information available with the sdk available for devs it seems our poor LOD culling and loading will be the same as SU15. A ton of these outlets are reporting the LOD is way too aggressive still… so I don’t think 2024 at release will fix any of the pop in and details loading until you’re right on top of them. I have serious doubts about 2024. We’ve been lied to over and over.
“System requirements will be similar to 2020” they were doubled putting series x at the minimum spec when it was the recommended for 2020.
“We are working on a small SU16, it won’t be anything big like SU15, minor fixes like the clock, and we will look into the memory optimization issue.” That was JUNE Dev stream. Didn’t get a beta in July like they said, didn’t get one in Sept/Oct like they said.
“Xbox showcase title MSFS2024, no pilot left behind” Haven’t seen any gameplay, trailer, preview, nothing for Xbox.
They keep adding up. Lots of talk and no action. I used to love this sim so much and was a number one fanboy, now it’s the bane of my existence. What am I to do with all three of my yokes, my HOTAS, and pedals? Flying on console isn’t at all what it was when I bought into it, it’s a far cry from where we started and I’m extremely saddened it’s not getting better anytime soon. The console is a “gateway” system for MSFS, they want to ‘hook’ us then make us uprgrade to a PC and get charged a Microsoft license. I see through it now, I hope new simmers can see it too and aren’t fooled by all the yapping. Just like thrustmaster “Re-releasing” their Tflight HOTAS with MSFS color way, these HOTAS are plastic garbage I’ve been through so many of them. But unsuspecting new simmers think it’s a new peripheral for $100 when before MSFS and the pandemic they were Always $80. It’s sad to see how they take advantage of console members.
I find it bemusing tbh. PC users complain that the sim was nobbled to squeeze it on to xbox and xbox users complain that it doesn’t perform well on xbox.
I think we need to give them the benefit of the doubt, and then we can vote with our wallets if it doesn’t play the way we would like.
You make several very good points, it definitely doesn’t perform aswell as it did within the first year if launch. TM Hotas, well thats a whole different story, yes its garbage, TM even approached xbox users at FSexpo for market research, promising an “exciting release” for console users. Then just painted the same useless toy white and are re releasing it as new, i mean they could atleast use better components but no, disposable and cheap to keep the cash cow feeding as usual.
Yes we have been lied to, and often, they assume too much and soon FS will get a very bad rep and burn itself out if things dont take a turn for the better.
I would love MS to prove me wrong and produce a stunning, reliable, usable product as they promised but the only seeds their record has produced are the seeds of doubt.
Microsoft’s silence regarding Xbox is deafening. I consider MSFS to be momentarily abandoned. Over 100 addons and a totally ridiculous LOD. I confess, I eagerly awaited the new GDK but that’s it, I feel like we were left out of this party, at least it seems like it will be like that until 11/19.
For multi-platform titles they usually showcase the PC version, I don’t see why MS/Asobo would do differently here.
It would be similar to demanding them to showcase the title running on low-end and mid-end machines. It’s not common (I actually don’t remember any developer who did that). They just use a high-end pc running 4k @Ultra settings.
Maybe because this is supposed to be an Xbox Showcase title? Maybe because it’s available on game pass day one? Maybe because it’s a partner of Xbox Game Studios?
Funny I don’t recall any Xbox Showcase title that has never shown footage from Xbox. If it’s part of Xbox game studios and gamepass why wouldn’t they show it off? That’s why these threads keep popping up. You have it backwards, they should be showing Xbox captured footage. This is not the Norm
I dont think it is either of those. Ever work on a project that involves multiple teams? One team misses a deadline for something the other team needs, they then miss their deadline for a deliverable, and things snowball.
The original plan was to show the sim off and start talking about it in the spring time. The first aircraft developer stream, most the teams refused to come because they were still working on release candidates.
Keep in mind, some of these third parties do great work. But they all didn’t necessarily come originally from an IT background. The might have been learning software management principles. You have multiple teams all with different backgrounds developing one cohesive product.
I just think even right now, they aren’t fully sure what they will have. EVERYONE is confident in the path, in the product. They are sure that this is the biggest simulation effort ever. I just think things are running behind and they don’t know yet whether things will be smooth or they will have issues.
