File IFR Plan with ATC without going back to Map

Is it possible to file an IFR plan with ATC without going back to the map?

Unfortunately, no!

Better to ALWAYS file IFR in the World map, then at any time during the flight, you can cancel IFR, or re-file IFR, even after changing the FP in the GPS.

No a RW solution, but a MSFS work around

Too bad. That would be a cool feature.

Maybe you should ask for it to be added.

There are situations where you can be at a Departure field that is under IFR only (based on local WX), and you’ll have to request accordingly from either CT or the Sector Control if the field is uncontrolled.

But IFR on demand, no.

I think OP just wants the ability, as can be done in Real Life, to ask for a new clearance without cancelling the flight and starting a new one.

Pilot2ATC might be worth looking into for those kind of options.

Yes, P2A can do it. I do it from time to time but you have to manually change your flight plan in the plane. I haven’t been able to find a way to load the p2a export.

Yes, this is how I do it when I’m flying multiple legs, I don’t exit the sim, I file the next leg plan, update the isystems by hand and off I go.

Do you start off by using an IFR plan from the World Map? Have you tried it with WT CJ4?

Kinda. I start with developing and exporting my plan from Simbreif to the sim. I then enter the plan manually to P2A and fly with ATC. At any point, ai have been successful changing the P2A plan and continuing but you also have to manually change the plan on which ever Nav or GPS device you are using in the cockpit if you want to use the AP properly.

Sorry, I don’t fly the CJ4, primarily I’m a TBM and Longitude driver, and the good old 172 for sight seeing.

Just a heads up, you can import the plan from Simbrief into P2ATC as well.

Hit the import button on bottom right and change the plan type to MSFS .pln (believe it’s bottom right of the import window and defaults to Xplane).

Saves some time

Sorry if the following makes no sense but this is what I do, i file the IFR plan on the map for a 45 minute to an hour flight, once I land and park up i setup a new direct gps and manually add the waypoints in the flight plan including departures and arrivals. This works well when doing short flights. I like to fly from the south of England all the way to the top of Scotland in a TBM with multiple stops along the way.

Hallo. Is there some possibly new work around to add IFR plan in an existing flight please? Or load a saved flight from a map and add IFR flight plan to it? For me. If I go load flight from previous day I saved. Becouse I like continuation. Flight plan on a map screen is grayed out and cannot use it. So bad.
EDIT. Also weather and time is grayed out after loading a flight. Unable to change and update. Omg why?

Sadly, no, not as yet. Only way round it is a Simbrief flightplan, but ATC won’t recognise it and just treat you as VFR… frustrating as this could be done in FSX. I believe it’s being worked on for FS2024 and may (just may) be back ported for 2020… :crossed_fingers:

Thank you for your reply. Good to know some news. I very apreciete. You are right. I also read people saying hope thay will get thouse things in upcoming version. And there I will see I keep like their sim. I was flying today. I tried IFR for the 3th time. And was disapointed so much. I am not using that ever as ATC handling and interaction is a joke.

Also so many other non fuctionality of things that fsx or even fs9 had is bugged or just not included. I realy dont get it.
I wish for everyone in development to get realy serious with the simulator.
Otherwise it is becoming very much simple arcade game. Good loking. But just an arcade in my view. No more “real as it gets” as thay did it from 95 version till fsx. I see.

I have started to get an impression that developers and publishers got oriented just on simpliest players as it is biggest pool of costumers. Biggest sails, and money, even for a shake of loosing real pilots and huge geeks in sim comunity. And dont care about them. Ignore their requests. Simliest strategy. Just keeping upgrating graphics and performance I hear on official streams… I have few friend who really love this simulator. And I get it. They are happy thay come home, launch big aircraft airborne and do a mission to land at hard airport. And in an eazy mode as it is actualy default setting. Uhhh. But if that is the majority of people development and sales are oriented too. People like me who loves real experience and continuity of this real simulator. I feel doomed. I am frustrated so much. And that is why I start to dout it will be any better with the next version. If their strategy is unchanged… I appologize for putting it here on forum. But that is what i am getting from this simulator. I can only hope in a change and keep vote on thouse issues.

( I would definetly go fix issues with the mods. But I am xbox s. But it would not solve all issues)
