Finally, correct waypts, sids, stars with Navigraph beta

I have the Navigraph beta navdata airac 2011 and it actually injected the latest sids, stars, waypts into a flight plan.

It’s great. Not only does is add a bunch of stuff that MSFS was missing, but it also corrects a lot of errors in the default database.

how’s the beta working, any bugs, I navagraph too is it worth it to apply for the beta

If you have any modded or scratch built airports it may clash with them and impose its own data on top at the same time so you’ll have two runways and some freaky terrain. I guess it may happen with sloppy in sim ones too, not sure.

This is getting sorted with an update soon I’m told.

It’s nice because it also has hooks in SimBrief and it’s world-wide for appr charts, SIDs, and STARs.

Does it also add missing AWOS/ASOS frequencies? I didn’t ask about ATIS, because I have yet to find a missing one.

Could anyone with a Navigraph Beta subscription do a quick test for me?

I’m interested to see if it includes missing approaches for outback Australian airports. Airports such as YKOW, YBKT, YCOE, YLHR are where I often fly, and they should all have RNAV’s but are missing in the default MSFS.

If anyone has the time to check out one of these airports, it’d be greatly appreciated.

Another perfect illustration as to why Navigraph is the way to go if you want complete and accurate nav data in MSFS. And, there is no waiting either - new Navigraph databases are always available the same day a new cycle starts.

Yeah this past weekend I subbed to Navigraph again as well. I’m a bit chuffed because all the hype for the game pre-release gave me the impression that they would be updating the game w real life navdata as part of the package.

But I guess they do have real life nav data, just missing a large part of it lol. Checkmate marketing team.

I have the Navigraph beta installed but is still missing TOC and TOD indicators on the FMS screen in the Flight plan. Anyone that van help or is it still a bug?

I think the plan was for a French company to supply nav data.
Navigraph have seen the threat and fought to survive!

The msfs “Microsoft Earth” flight planner is brilliant (far better than NG’s). Adding the NG database is just what we need.

Ditto MCDU, G1000/3000 programming.

That sounds like a sim problem not a navdata problem

I disagree with this. The globe, visibility of airports, and being able to effectively scratchpad both destination and arrival airports are really the only thing that the msfs planner does better. The msfs means of choosing sids, stars, and approaches is abysmal compared to the NG way. Not to mention being able to just manually type in things like airways in the NG planner takes the cake.

I respect everyone’s choice of flight planner - whatever works for you is the best.

I like the top down Google Earth approach and fast zoom/pan of the MSFS planner. For sure it can be improved by blending features from other planners, as you highlighted.

Hopefully the SDK will be opened up to allow flight planning enhancements.

The sat-nav autoroute feature appeals to the mass market, dynamic type and search will round it off nicely.

Bizarrely I’d like a book of printed charts to use with the MSFS planner. :grinning:

Is this compatible with FlybyWire A320 yet ? It says on their site it may cause problems

Another big reason to go the Navigraph way is how fast they can fix missing data issues. It usually takes less than 48h for a hotfix.

NAVBLUE depends on MSFS "monthly’ updates that are always late compared to the current AIRAC cycle, and in the case of missing data (there is plenty) it will take even longer for a fix.

Navigraph is an indispensable tool imho.

NavBlue, which is the supplier of default nav data for MSFS is owned by Airbus, but are actually headquartered in Canada.

One problem that may be causing missing procedures in the default data is that I suspect NavBlue may be simply supplying a direct port of one of the real databases they supply for an actual aircraft.

Real FMS databases with worldwide coverage typically do not contain every procedure for every airport, because real FMS systems do not have enough hardware NVRAM memory to hold every procedure for every airport. Most current r/w FMS computers were designed before the explosion of new GPS RNAV approaches in the last few years.

Simulated FMS systems have no such memory constraints. Navigraph takes the master worldwide database each month from Jeppesen and converts it into the specific formats needed by dozens of different add-on aircraft for FSX/P3D and X-Plane, as well as for flight planners like PFPX, LittleNavMap, Simbrief etc.

I’m sure that when PMDG etc. finally come to MSFS, their aircraft will use their own version of the Navigraph database just as they do in FSX/P3D.

Since Navigraph is “the” main player in supplying databases specifically for flight simulation I think Asobo would have been better served to have contracted with Navigraph to be the primary database supplier for MSFS instead of NavBlue - but what’s done is done. Fortunately, because of the way the community folder works, it is easy to override the default data with the Navigraph version.

I’ve been using the FBW mod with Navigraph data replacing the default MSFS database, and have had no problems.

Among other things, the Navigraph database automatically corrects the problem of KSFO coming up missing in the latest version of the default database that was included in the recent 1.9.5.0 patch.

they are going to be arinc 424 by then. fslabs already is… navigraph supplies it in that format
