Could you share how to make this work?
Of course. It is pretty straightforward if you are comfortable putting together your own package for the Community folder…
By default, you can create your own preset in the sim that say has a single cloud layer that goes from base at 0m to a top at 400m and 100% density. That looks like this:
Not bad, a bit misty but doesn’t really affect slant visibilities in the short/mid distance that much. You can still line up for a landing from a fair distance.
But if you create your own preset outside of the sim and add through the Community folder as a package you can instead have the same setup, single cloud layer with the cloud top at 400m and 100% density but instead have the cloud base at -2000m (that is minus 2000 meters). This makes what cloud is above the land surface much denser so you get this:
Now that does affect slant visibility in the mid range and can make lining up a little more difficult especially with low sun angles.
(You cannot do negative values for cloud base using the preset UI, it just sets it to zero if you do. Same for precipittion values over 10mm/h, but you can do so from a preset file)
Now do the same but have three cloud layers all with a -2000m cloud base and a 400m cloud top (or to taste) and you can then get something approaching proper fog/low stratus
I’m going to work on a few more presets but right now, it is pretty limited in what you can do from the sim preset UI or from creating your own by hand.
