Hello there!
I’ve just finished building my new PC and installed MSFS 2020 at last.
I have many questions so maybe I should have split this topic into many…sorry.
My setup is a i7 14700k, RTX 4070, MSI MAG TOMAHAWK MAX, 32 GB DDR5 6000Mhz. I’m running triple 1080p 60Hz monitor. I’m getting about 45 - 50 fps at ultra settings (mostly tested Giza) and the usual warning is “Limited by mainthread” to get to 60 fps. Lowering the specs don’t increase my fps, and activating DX12 and DLSS kill my fps to 25-30. Any tips? I guess 45 fps is enough but I though my rig was going to be able to reach 60…
I’m also having troubles with the triple screen setup, my panels are in a 30º angle but any vertical rotation below 90 results in overlaying elements. Is there any way to set some linear vertical offset to the lateral view? 90º is good but no great…
Is there any way to use a macbook air m1 to move the instrument panel to?
Many thanks!
I remember reading on Toms Hardware last year that the newer generation cards (RTX4000 series) are actually better above 1080p. Now I’m not sure how that would translate in a multi Monitor set up, but it was delivering higher FPS above 1080.
Welcome aboard!
If you are adjusting graphics quality settings, you won’t remove main thread (CPU) bottlenecks.
The best ways to help ease the CPU load are:
- Turn down Terrain Level of Detail (If you have set it above 100, set it back)
- Turn down/off traffic.
- Don’t use complex planes like airliners with heavily modelled systems.
See what that does.

Works great I get 60 fps at Giza now! What would be a good level off traffic? Now I have it at IA Offline 10. Many thanks!
