Fix Controller profiles (Missing or Corrupting)

Matchrocket, can you give a little more context on what you use, and how you do it?

Silly question. Did you SAVE the profile with a new name when you modified it? You will need to create separate profiles for 1, 2 and 4 engines. plus simple and complex (included mixture) for single and twin-engined aircraft.

Using Steam version of MSFS2020…

Was playing just the other day, saved my flight because I was half way through it - next day I load it up and all of a sudden my controller mappings are all gone. I had nothing custom, just use OOTB settings. Noticed that all of the mappings are just straight gone.

Can someone give me theirs or the defaults and or do you know of a way to reset it back to default?

Go to options controls, select your controller, press m for preset manager, reset defaults. Good luck.

It’s still blank.

I don’t see a way to export presets. I assume they are stored in a profile, maybe even in the cloud.

Yea, this is what I’m afraid of… And if that is the case I’m gonna just stop playing.

What’s your hardware?

The only thing I know that behaves as you described is the TCA Quadrant Airbus Edition. Where if you accidentally changed the engine mode switch at the front of the quadrant from Engine 1&2 mode to the Engine 3&4 mode, the sim treats it as a completely separate hardware, so the previous control profile that you have set for the 1&2 mode no longer detected and shows blank since it’s loading the Engine 3&4 profile, which, if you never set them up in the first place in that mode, the sim don’t have that profile available to load.

Keeping this thread alive. Because I love this sim, in all it’s brokenness. Profiles still disappearing.

I have the same issue like REDBULLswe, have new computer, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo and even if I made my own profiles for diferent combinations of engines, I am not abble to change profile in game. I see my profile in settings, but not in plane.

Have somebody a solution for this?

Nicely explained!

Simple really. Create a profile for my Xbox Elite controller with a specific name. Works great. Load the sim a few days later. Only default profile exists. All other controller profiles are gone. Better now?

I use two Saitek Throttle Quadrants and the same issue happens to me. I set up each quadant with different bindings and they are randomly reset the next time I run the game.

I believe they’re stored in the cloud, so I’m exploring not being properly logged in. I use a desktop shortcut instead of starting from the Xbox app or the Store link. I’ll report back. Also I’m using a bluetooth connection for my Elite controller.

I also have the sim installed on my Xbox series X and occasionally fly on it. But I’m 90 percent PC. Sometimes I wonder if the “play anywhere” syncing messes things up.

Hmm…

I use both platforms (three actually. If I mess about on the Series S rather than the X) and I don’t have this trouble. I’ve got that same Elite controller, too.

Interesting, thanks for weighing in. A reinstall would likely fix my non persistent controller profiles in my Windows 11 sim. But it’s running so beautifully otherwise, that I just want to fly. Currently experimenting with logging out and back in to my Windows profile.

It’s hard for me to imagine any way in which this isn’t pure coincidence – but ever since I started using Addons Linker, this hasn’t been happening to me. Even when I forget to connect the bluetooth controller until the sim is already booting, I’m not losing my profiles. Can anyone imagine any sort of correlation with this issue and the community folder? Thanks for keeping this thread alive Tank4!

Guys don’t worry about seeing them in game I had this issue too
Just switch to them from the control options. They will register and you can use them

After countless testing Ive noticed that the profile name is there but the actual bidnings are gone so go back to your old profile redo everything and save. And whatever profile you want to use just select from control options

I had to select my keyboard
Rudder’s
Throttle and yoke all over again before every flight where I wanted to change aircraft.
Yes it’s frustrating but it works

If this doesn’t work for you then make new profiles

Sad this forums support sucks. People have a problem they whine then give up
