[FIXED] About to give up - micro stutters, on the second, every second, no matter what I try

Hi - I’m about to give up guys… Been using MSFS since it came out. Recently the stutters have only got so bad I can’t play. I’ve tried everything from turning off the antimalware app that runs in the background, reducing LOD, deleting caches, resetting Bing data, making default cache size bigger, added in the recent frame gen gizmo, reduced setting, lowered high impact settings, and my stutters remain. It’s almost like a heartbeat, a little skip every second. I don’t have a virus and DCS and XPlane12 do not suffer from this.

I spent money on scenery and some planes over Xmas and I don’t want to give up on this sim, but right now it is completely wasting my time.

Does anybody have any solution. Please

Thanks,
Len

Are you using DX11 or 12?

Check your internet connection speed, if I get a slowdown, FS tends to suffer. Especially ping, 20 to 30 is generally acceptable. Also make sure pre-caching is on ultra in the settings. Sometimes an update can revert a setting you’ll have never touched.

DX 11. I know DX 12 gives stutter on Vatsim sadly

Thank you. The video from Q8 helped but after about 45 mins the stutters started again. At first it was almost better. My internet is good.

Are you using FSUIPC by chance?

If so what version are you on?

I had a similar problem caused by Razer Chroma, which is an RGB program. So it may not even be anything directly associated with the sim.

Try going into the sim and take a pic of all your graphics settings and then press reset to defaults at the bottom of the screen and then quit the sim. Re-start the sim and then re-enter the old grahics parameters manually from your pic(s).

This worked for me once so it probably is worth a try.

Good luck!

Sounds system specific. I’d try isolate by disabling as many programs and services as possible. The 1 second interval sounds like some 3rd party program polling for something periodically. You may even spot it in Task Manager with CPU or Disk activity every second.

Also +1 for disabling rolling cache to reduce stutter, though I think that’s unrelated to this issue.

I had 2 things causing small stutters every 1-2 seconds. Task Manager was how I found my problem and it was 2 programs running in the background: a cloud backup software (Backblaze) that was defaulted to automatic backups was scanning my drives for changed files and so I turned that off/set to a once one week backup….and my hwinfo64 hardware monitoring software for temps/usage of the cpu/GPU was “polling” the system sensors every 0.5 seconds and I changed that to every 2 seconds. Those changes made a difference in the cpu load of the system with MSFS which is so dependent on just a few cores.

Never thought back in 2020 that we needed NASA’s best people to solve all these different stutters. But we probably do. So many guides online etc, but theres some intialt problem with the sim if you have to follow all those… =( …if you have the system for your settings, that is. But occational stutters from nowhere does not make anyone happy.

This was the culprit. Also, @KnightofNi312’s post above has a link to some helpful tips from Q8Pilot. Note the update to his video in the first comment.

THANK YOU so much @skypilotYTS !!! I was prbly going to get to this maaaaybe, but I was looking at a complete reinstall next… so thank you.

Late to the party but:

Maybe four times over the last few months I got the every-second micro-stutter, only on the Asobo Longitude. Of course, I didn’t notice it until taxiing, but it was annoying enough to restart the sim (and/or reboot). Didn’t think much of it since it happened so rarely.

Flash to yesterday, when I purchased the Azurpoly OV-10. Unless it was the first flight after starting FS2020, it would stutter every second, but far worse than the Longitude.

I confirmed with certainty that it was FSUIPC7. I use Spad.Next for most everything, but use prepackaged Streamdeck panels from FlightPanels.to for the Fenix A320, which installs FSUIPC7 in the background. Killed that in task manager, and the stuttering went away immediately.

Not sure why it’s just the Longi and OV-10, but glad I have a solution (and can still use the FlightPanels software when needed).

Getting this after one flight it starts every 3 secounds stutters

I use FSUIPC7 and can see it implied that it is the cause of the 1 second stutter, but what is the fix? Stop using FSUIPC7?

I updated to the latest version a couple of weeks ago. With the older one, as mentioned above, the Azurpoly Bronco had a 100% reproducible every two-second stutter (I’d kill FSUIPC7.exe from task manager to fix it). The latest version fixed that issue for me.

Aside - I only use FSUIPC7 for products from Flightpanels.to. I use SPad.Next for all of my custom control mappings.

i just made the acc to say thank you… idk why i dit not came to that idea by my self… you single handedly fixed my microstuttering issues… ^^ <3
