Flat battery recharge SOLVED

I’m sure all of us at some point in time have or will get a flat battery in the sim. Up until now my solution has been to either go back to the main menu and reload or enter dev mode to do the same. Both solutions have their pit falls.
This simple little solution that I discovered the other day means you can assign a single button to give you enough juice in the battery to get your aircraft started. All you have to do is write 28 to the following simvar (“ELECTRICAL BATTERY VOLTAGE:1”, “Volts”) from your favourite external simvar app and power will be restored for long enough to get that engine running so the battery can be fully charged again.

I’ve not tested this with every aircraft but it worked on all the ones I did try.

How often is this really a problem? I’ve got almost 150 flight hours in the sim and never once had a dead battery. Do you run the avionics for extended periods without the engine running or something?

Yep normally when I’m developing or testing stuff. If I do a normal flight it’s generally not an issue but others have complained about not having a way to recharge the battery so I thought I’d share for anyone that wants a solution.

For me, I ran out of battery once. I started the flight in the cockpit then got distracted away from the PC probably for a cup of coffee) and came back and the battery was dead. I’ve been paying more attention to this now that I am doing flight plan programming more often in the cockpit rather than loading it in externally. Some of my plans take a bit longer to load, then load the Neofly cargo, then get clearance, etc. before starting.
Working Title even recommends for their CJ4 to set external power on or start an engine within 10 minutes of turning on the battery.
