Flickering ATC Icon Crashes Program

Have not used nor made changes in Developer Mode and have the MS Store Version.

Even with ATC Voices ON and ATC UI Panel Open at Start ON, the ATC Panel does not appear in the cockpit. When pressing the screen menu, all items appear, however; the ATC Icon is rapidly blinking (I tried capturing this with screen shots and also a movie, but have been unable to do so). Clicking on the ATC Icon causes the game to crash. I have been able to fly with all ATC Panel options off in both safe and regular modes; however, the program still randomly crashes. This all started happening after installing the Feb 28 Mandatory update and following hotfix.

The following hotfix was not a hotfix, it was a navdata update.
Do you have any addons in your community folder, if so, remove them (or rename the folder) and then try.
It could also be caused by a conflict with something purchased from the marketplace, so if you have anything from there, I would uninstall that and try as well.

Do you use Navigraph, or just the default navdata?

I appreciate your taking the time to reply and the correction concerning the “hotfix” error.

The problem still occurs with an empty community folder. Additionally, I’ve ensured my Geforce drivers are current and have yet to update to Widows 11.

I do use LittleNavMap; however, the problem still occurs when I use a flight plan created in MSFS.

I’ve also submitted a report to Zendesk.

Boy, this is an odd one.
I haven’t seen this before.
Could this be audio related?
What are you using for sound drivers?

Realtek Drivers that came with the laptop. Have never had any sound problems with any software.

Have been flying on this version of MSFS since Jan 28, 2021 and have logged 141:20:09 hours. Never had a problem until the Feb 28 update.

I hate to think of it, but am wondering if I should reinstall the program.

There are way too many issues that seem to happen with a reinstall.
You could be left without a sim at all.
I would do some more troubleshooting first.

Try this. Delete the fs-base-nav folder from the Official, One Store folder, then restart the sim.
I believe that is the nav data base.
It will rebuild the folder when you start the sim with a new version of the nav data, and that may help.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try this. Also, I appreciate your warning about a reinstall. I really wanted not to go through that.

Ultimately, I have eliminated the ATC cockpit icon and have turned ATC voice off. I rarely used it as I don’t need instructions to follow an IFR flight plan or know what runway to use. Have been flying MS flight simulators since the first one and even used that primitive one to practice NDB approaches for my instrument check ride.

MSFS 2020 is a different universe. The joy is in the flying in a very realistic sim (even if trimming for a speed and landing is easier in real world flying).

Thanks so much for your help. If the problem is ever resolved, I’ll let you know.
