It’s not that entering it manually “worked” as nothing was broken, as we’ve stated above, discontinuities are part of real world flying where the departure needs vectors to the en route portion, or from arrival to approach.
Sure, you can just remove these and or enter it manually and have everything join up and jus let the plane fly itself around, but that is not real world.
Maybe that’s not what you’re after but just wanted to reiterate that discontinuities are real and valid. Not broken.
