Keep hope but its not looking great at all for Microsoft after the lengthy wait since its annoucement.
They basically said its load tested for 200,000 requests. They have not said anything in that video about expanding the server capacity. They did mention that they hope the load is more balanced over the coming weeks. They really have underestimated the amount of players- I donāt think anyone will be able to play this game over the coming weeks with stability and everything working as it should unless server capacity is vastly increased. They have handled this launch appallingly. It could not have have gone any worse
I have only managed one flight in free flight, all further attempts to load into a free flight just results in a spinning wheel on the flight loading screen. Anybody else getting those issue?
I got in very early after release, had a long startup, planes missing⦠nothing new here but got to play for 40 Minutes or so.
Tried out the Airship with real live weather earlier in the day when it was very stormy. Got thrown around a lot but couldnāt even get it to decouple from the mast. But still pretty cool.
Tried out the Robinson R44 and it felt really nice to fly (but I have no real life experience) and managing throttle and collective manually is definitely more challenging than in 2020.
Quick flight with the 737 over my house and an landing in a field nearbyā¦
Overall the world has a way more realistic feel to it than in 2020. At least where I live. Had no Texture issues or other graphical bugs, performance was good once the majority of data was downloaded. Iām really looking forward to dive into the career in a couple of days.
One thing regarding loading times, which are generally really fast. I think they should add a little timer before you can press fly to download more stuff. The first 20 seconds or so were really rough in every plane because nothing was there yet and it just takes some time, even though my 100 Mbits were completely saturated.
Oh and the control bindings are in theory great. Per plane settings, copy paste, setting bindings as standard for all planes and so on. But everything feels soooo cramped. I have a 55" 4k TV and itās just weird. They have these huge banners in the middle but the input devices on the left are so small. On the right there is a huge unnecessary image of the device. Scrolling of the list in the middle was really sluggish so I constantly lost the entry I was looking at. Not very good usability in my opinion
I dont usually bother with forums as I have little time for most of the immature comments and ranting I see, in my experience they dont speed up servers or resolve bugs, but I guess a rant helps keep people sane. Having said that, I have a level of sympathy for the challenges we have all faced today so thought I would respond to this post.
It took me quite a few tries to get the sim installed, and I note if I have to restart, it is significantly better each time now. The queues seem to have disappeared thankfully.
My flight stick, throttle and controls worked right away with no adjustments required at all, so was pleased with that. However I am yet to fly. Scenery takes forever to load if it does, and quite a few scenery items from World Updates are not loading textures. Planes wont load or if they do are missing key parts, like the VC, making it impossible to use them at the moment.
I tried career mode and buildings didnt render fully and my instructor was the red error character. The C172 cockpit wouldnt render so had to scrap that. Iām not at all convinced streaming the content is going to work, so far it hasnt, but I am keeping an open mind and I hope time will iron out the kinks.
I love the free look camera and how it speeds up the higher you get, just need the scenery to load fast enough to catch up.
Frustrated and disappointed best sums up my experience so far, mixed with a few āwowā moments. I am mindful its early days, so am prepared to be patient. However, I refuse to believ MS and Asobo were not aware of presale numbers, so should have anticipated the server demand and potential issues it would cause. If the future of FS2024 was based on first impressions, then you would have to say this is a crash and burn. But, I do appreciate the work the team has done, I know they are genuine in their love for simming, so I will sit back, be patient and hope that day one was a blip and FS2024 becomes the sim we all want it to be.
Thank you.

The good:
Honestly, itās just fun. I suspect the tubeliner group will be unsatisfied, but for me, having focused on GA, Iām quite happy.
The bad:
Lag. For some reason, input lag is really bad, even when framerate is fine. Itās definitely flyable, but landings are a challenge.
The ugly:
The server issues. I had a lot of fun, but server issues made it so I almost didnāt get to fly at all, and most people straight up didnāt get to.
Iāve only had a brief flight having had the same server issues as the rest of the folks, but the flight I had over London was beautiful, London looked so crisp and the visuals from the photogrammetry were a noticiable improvement on MSFS 2020. Thames being the right colour, bridges looking better - little things making a difference. Not sure thatās the sim or different PG but Iām very happy with that side of things.
Yeah, same here. Is there any workaround or is that a thing where we are supposed to just wait ?
Yeah man, Sometimes just to see others issues or perhaps their happiness for the sim to be running. Looks like you are getting the good side of things which I am stoked for you! I am hoping my issues get resolved for I can have a great experience as well! The little time I have had in the sim its been good actually. Textures seems to be 50/50 at times but do load eventually, the stable fps is what I am super happy about I had some issues in 2020 but was never game breaking. The automapping for my HOTAS is kind of bumming me out but hoping for a post or even a profile to get that sorted.
Cheers, Glad everything on your end is going pretty good minus the upsetting parts. Career mode is now working for me which is a plus!
ā ā ā ā , Crazy
Has anyone been able to configure and map the HOTAS X52? Iāve tried myself but it appears that it does not work correctly as I entered them. Just so frustrating its a custom experience rather than a plug and play. Donāt get why this would be considered a great thing to do on launch.
