Flight Simulator gone after update yesterday

Good morning,

I did do the update yesterday, unfortunately it got stuck at 283 mb. I waited for one hour, hoping that it would continue, but it didn’t, I got a CTD.

Then on xBox I got the message that the installation was not possible.

I wanted to run Flight Simulator again, but it didn’t show up under apps. I have it on another drive, it’s still there.

When I’m in X-Box or Microsoft Store, the only option I got is to reinstall the whole sim - I’m more than frustrated.

I found out, that the Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe Folder within the packages folder is missing - I didn’t delete it.

I’ve just seen that Flight Simulator shows up in settings under installed apps, the version number is 1.37.19.0

Please tell me what to do, I don’t want to redownload the whole sim.

I’m very disappointed and frustrated.

Markus

Having similar experience, after avionics update xbox content manager is now empty, over 180 addons no longer installed including XPP test programme. Base sim still installed but now i have to spend mybtime re adding everything i re installed last week.
Tried profile re sync but had no effect at all.

I tried to apply a restore point, unfortunately to no avail.

Here, it seems to be the opposite: all the content files I got on a separate SSD are still there, the Flightsimulator exe file is missing, and the folder within the app/packages folder, I assume that’s the base sim.

I still see it in the apps section within the settings (1.37.19.0).

It’s soooo frustrating.

Hello

I have the same Problem.Update working automatcly. After the Update the Loading file going to 80% and a Message come The Flightsimulator dont working more.
Its more as frustrating.Last 3 days Holiday and the Time is runnig out.
above in the start desktop i can read 1.38.2.0 PC Version. Steam Version

Just to apply a little balance, here, the same update took place without incident.
It is important to check where it is going to be installed before accepting it and ensuring that location is where the existing version actually is.

Sim doesn’t start any more after 2024-10-01 update - Remove Navigraph AIRAC Cycle - Bug Reporting Hub / Crashes (CTDs) - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

skip to close to the end of the above thread for a probable fix for this issue.

In short, if you uninstall Navigraph nav data, via Navigraph hub, if you have it, you should be able to get MSFS up and running.

Thanks for your reply, but I have nox executable file, it’s gone after the CTD yesterday

Not at my Sim PC atm, but doesn’t the Xbox app have a repair option that might restore the missing file(s)?

I did the rpair option in settings/ installed apps, but to no avail.

The Xbox app only lets me reinstall tne whole thing …

Thanks anyway.

this is nonsense, because the update starts automatically when the flight simulator is loaded. at least in my version.
sorry

Indeed it started automatically. I don’t know where it is installed. The flight sim folder I had under apps/packages is gone - and I definitely didn’t delete it. The community content on my separate SSD is unharmed.

For me, following the checking for updates screen, there was a chance to press an update button, in the bottom right of the screen, which was to the right of the path to be used for the install.

Not saying that’s what you saw, as something odd might be going on here. It wasn’t the most successful of updates, after all.

Well, I guess there wasn’t, it just said it’s a mandatory update. Normally the updates all happened flawlessly.

Apart from getting the missing file from someone else that you know, which might be risky, as you don’t know what else might be missing, a reinstall might be your only option.

However, I’d be tempted to put a support ticket in, as they may be able to save you the pain of doing that.

I don’t want to get the files form someone else, I was just hoping that someone knew a solution.

How do I put a support ticket in? I see that I can only put in a request.

I think what was meant that occasionally FS or Windows seems to loose the installation location.
My suspect was my antivirus suite…which keeps deleting entries in the registry it considers suspicious.

My install from day one was in C:\FS\MSFS from the day the disks arrived.
Bot sometimes when FS is running the update it wants to install into the default location.

If you don’t look closely and simply click update, the update is obviously much bigger and you end up with two installments of the sim, possibly both unusable.

My sim was installed 4 years ago, and has never once tried to install into anything other than my non-default location. I’ve no idea why some people get that.

It was exactly the same here.

If you have ever moved your MSFS packages to a different drive, there’s a chance that you won’t need to reinstall MSFS from scratch.

Go to the other drive where you have your game files stored, open the folder containing your MSFS files. Maximize window - take a screenshot and paste it here.
