I know I need to branch out and experience more of this magnificent globe we live on, but I am so much enjoying flying out of my home airfield (KPRB) and experiencing the joys of flying in my native state of California.
My whole life, I have driven in and explored so much of this vast state and to be able to experience it again as a sim pilot has been inspiring.
I’m loving the experience of learning to navigate it by just recognizing so many of its features. I can see a town, airfield, river, lake or other landmark from several thousand feet up and know which it is and where I am.
I just adore this simple little Cessna 170B and it’s spartan equipment. I find navigating via dead reckoning and VOR so incredibly satisfying. Growing increasingly confident in my skills as I do this more and more continues to be very rewarding.
I’m thankful to be living in this moment to experience flight in this way. Thanks Microsoft and Asobo, for doing this,
And I will add a bit more.
You are also extremely supportive of a lot of folks that bring their issues to this forum.
I have seen time and again where you have taken a lot of your time to help these folks.
It is really nice to see someone who will put out that kind of effort.
@NixonRedgrave I also was born and raised in the beautiful state of California, yet have lived most of my life elsewhere. I spend the majority of my sim flying around the San Francisco Bay Area, and also love flying in Southern California. It is gratifying to fly over my old neighborhood situated on the shore of the East Bay, fly over my old high school, the junior college where my grandfather retired as a custodian. My uncle died just last year, and he lived about 30 miles north of San Jose, in Fremont. I have flown over his house. All major landmarks are where they’re supposed to be. As you say— “quite inspiring!”
Im with you guys. I live in Atlanta and most of my flights are from and to the busiest airport in the world. I’m sure you guys know what airport this is. My dream of being a pilot has sort of come true especially flying in VR. Wow what a awesome feeling. . . . Its great knowing that many others share the same passion as I do.
