Flights starts to stutter after 6 hours flying

Specs: 7800X3D, 32GB, 4070 ti super

Hello! I recently upgraded to a new computer that’s well-equipped for MSFS 2020. I’ve started flying long-haul routes with the Emirates 777, and after about 6 hours, I start experiencing persistent stutters. The “Display FPS” tool shows my main thread’s latency spiking, which seems to cause the issue.

My internet runs at 280 Mbps, CPU usage is between 25-40%, and my GPU remains stable at around 10 ms latency. Task Manager shows normal resource usage with RAM at 20 GB of 32 GB, and all components running cool (40-60°C). The stutters affect only MSFS, and restarting the sim resolves it temporarily, but that isn’t practical for long flights. Shorter flights totaling around 6 hours trigger the stuttering as well. I have the latest GPU driver, and i’ve tried to close every application when getting the stutters but it still exists.

I have reviewed all of the previous topics, but the solutions there doesn’t work.

Help is much appreciated.

This was an old issue that was supposed to be fixed in the last SU release. It was basically a memory leak issue from what I recall.

I would recommend that you turn on the fps counter and check your vram usage versus what your gpu has. If the sim tries to use more vram than what your gpu physically has, it will start swapping the overflow out to disk and that will cause stuttering. The vram usage at any point in time is at the bottom of the fps window.

could you provide a dxdiag and also let us know if it happens with a default asobo aircraft like the 747 or A310?

Any luck with this? Had some minor FPS degradation after a long haul in the PMDG 777 as well today
