Today we celebrate a very special anniversary in the flight simulation community. For those of us who have been deeply involved in this hobby for decades, we should make a note that today is the 25th anniversary of the opening of the iconic website flightsim.com.
I remember when Nels opened that site. He and I had already been communicating for a year or so on CompuServe as he owned a Pa-28, and I had been training on one. I had also launched Visually Incredible Panels during that time, and he was an early customer of my Warrior panel for FS95.
I was most likely one of the very first people to join his website. He supported my work with reviews, and I supported his work with my presence and my willingness to send people to his site. Over the 25 years I have spent a lot of time on his site, and of course over the last five years I’ve been a semi regular contributor of articles.
It is hard to fathom how much work Nels does for the community. Very few people in this industry have maintained such a level of commitment for a quarter of a century. I would therefore encourage members of this forum to go onto the Flightsim.com facebook page and congratulate him for his massive contribution to our hobby.
Nels.. I salute you my friend.
