FlightSim Studio B727 Freighter

The smoke is ridiculous, especially when you turn on the thrust reverser.

I have had two problems that I was wondering if anyone else had experienced, first was the nav mode on the autopilot stopped working, first few flights worked fine, now its not locking onto either the GPS or GS when set correctly, second usually near the end of the flight the engines stop responding to controls, usually stuck at the low idle when I turned off the auth throttle, but makes landing quite hazardous. I can see the throttle handle moving as I move my controller, but engine levels stay static.

For the Nav issues, there’s two things that I do which gives me a successful flight 9/10 times. As soon as the flight loads up, I restart the flight, and additionally I turn on the nav radios very early in the startup process, like as soon as I flip the battery on. I’ve also found a way to monitor the plane to see if nav and other systems are failing before getting too deep into the flight, is to periodically flip the flight director to HDG mode and make sure the needles come alive, if they don’t, restart the flight.

For me - one sure indicator that NAV will not work is when the “Set Speed” within the “tablet” is not working
When it does not set the speed bugs I restart the flight.

May I ask you a question btw: I seem to be no longer able to start up the engines. I did that like 50 times now - I think I know how it works. But now I can’t start anymore. Was there a change with the latest patch maybe?

Interesting. I can start the engines normally. I took a look at the changelogs then and practically the only thing that could prevent you from starting the engines was introduced in the patch 1.0.2 - “Fixed engines able to start without bleed air”. So make sure that you have APU running, all bleed valves open and both packs closed.

OK strange - will try again! Thx!

Yeah the speed bugs are another indicator, but with my workflow for prepping the cabin that comes after I start the engines so flicking the knob lets me know earlier. Regarding your starting issue, with the later patches, one of the bleed switches for engine 2 is off, and the engines won’t start unless you flick it on. Maybe check that.

I can’t get the INS system to accurately track the wapoints. I enter them from the Simbrief and they are correct. But when I engage AUX nav the aircraft seem to take an off track heading. I watched YouTube videos and I can doing the setup correctly.

To be honest, I can live with the nav that does not work, I can always just set heading mode and keep adjusting, its the engines that stop responding to controls that is a real problem.

I just tried another flight, activate the auto throttle get up to cruise altitude, everything is working ok (NAV is not but I can deal with that). Time to start the decent, turn down the speed, engines don’t change. Turn off auto throttle, move the throttle on my controller down to zero, the throttles in the VC respond, but the engine gauges do not. Only think that does work is the fuel cut off switches, but that is not ideal. I end up abandoning the flight as I am descending at 300 kn with no way to safely land.

Did you try assigning different AT-disconnect and off key assignments? Thats where I would start looking when the switch goes on but doesnt go off. Maybe through fsuipc if you have it.

You can test the speedbugs even in cold and dsrk - right from the start :raised_hands::+1::person_raising_hand:

I never use AT - its easy to “set&forget” the throttles manually tbh. And that way I don’t have this issue.

Is the red warning light related to flap extension? There are no other warning lights on indicating a problem, but it seems if I extend the flaps while still at the gate I get the red warning light. Also, sometimes the LOC/glideslope does not read out the distance. Is that a bug?

No I was just using the switch in the VC, worked a few times but not the last few flights. The last flight I did, which may be the last for a while, I did not turn on the auto throttle at all. Again, the engines stopped responding to controls during the decent.

Hi again  mhron
So I fiddled around again and I still can’t reliably start the engines - even when I follow my checklist step by step (the one that I used to learn the plane & which worked very well).
So I was wondering - do you maybe have a checklist which you could post here so I can use yours to see if I might miss a step that has become critical now?

Watch this guy and follow his procedure. You must be doing something wrong at some point

OK thanks!

OK I checked and really I can’t find anything tbh.

I am doing the whole Cold and Dark manually without the crew manager. For this I have done a checklist which used to work perfectly.

I don’t want to be asking too much - but if you could have a look at my steps and tell me if you see something odd?

That would be amazing!

OK so I de-installed and re-installed again - and it works again - with the same steps. I think there are definitively issues with the plane that needs to be fixed. At least I know I’m not getting debile lol.
Sorry for bothering mhron!

I found that if the throttles are not in the correct position engines won’t start.

You’re not bothering me, I’m glad that you figured it out. I was scratching my head because I found nothing wrong in your checklist.
