FlightSim Studio B727 Freighter

Hi,
I have already given some information. It’s up to them to implement it.

Hello my friend, did you manage to solve this situation?

I had the same issue and I believe I managed a work around and make the GPS following work.

Has anyone had trouble getting the B727 to follow a flightplan using the GNS530. I have set everything up according to the manual and the VOR/LOC mode won’t activate.

Did you switch the Nav/Gps switch to GPS?

Yes, like I said, I followed the manual instructions fully and it still won’t intercept my planned course

What degree of an angle are you intercepting them with?
I generally try to intercept at less than thirty degrees, and when I do, it seems to always work.
I have noticed that it may not if I am at right angles (or greater) to the course

I’ve tried to keep the intercept angles as shallow as possible, but it just doesn’t engage.

If you nudge the turn handle in any way on the autopilot, it won’t re-engage until it’s put back in dead-center. That was a fix for me, at least.

Couldn’t find anything. Would be appreciated.

I have a major problem with this plane and wonder if anyone else has experienced it, or can suggest a remedy.

I go through all of the pre-flights, usually without issues, and taxi to the runway. As soon as I get permission to take off, engine 1 quits. And it won’t start up again.

What with other issues - doors not opening or closing - I have tried to fly this about 20 times and have only gotten off the ground twice. I figured out the door issues. Re-loading the flight works. But, after the long pre-flight and startup, I don’t want to go back to the start when the engine quits.

I have been in touch with FSS and all they suggest is loading the sim without any addons. But this happened again this morning at one of the vanilla airports with only MSFS traffic.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

I believe their suggestion is probably correct.
You need to try the 727 with all other addons removed, both Community Folder and Marketplace.
Something is affecting it, and these types of issues (engine, doors) are very indicative of a mod conflict.

I have this aircraft and have never had an issue with it.

Thanks.

The engine issue doesn’t happen all the time. Are you saying that the only way I can ever fly this plane is with nothing to enhance the experience? Doesn’t seem worthwhile to me.

It’s just a case of elimination is all. If it works consistently with no other add-ons, then you can add them back in slowly and see which one causes the engine issues to appear. Some seemingly innocuous add-ons can affect things that might not be intuitive.

All I can say from my side is I don’t recall having any issues with engines shutting down so with any luck it’s something on your end that can be identified and corrected.

One other possibility is you have a controller mapping for engine 1 mixture/condition/RPM and it’s sending a signal which kills the engine. This used to happen with me in other aircraft when I unknowingly had mixture set to a noisy controller axis. I’d often, but not always, have engines die in the first few minutes (that’s how it eventually took for a noisy signal to finally get sent through).

Thanks for that. I thought about the controller but I only have one engine throttle that controls all three engines.

I will give this a try.

Cheers,
Scott

It could be controller, but with the other issues like the doors, it seems more like a mod conflict.
As Iconogr4phy has correctly stated, you just have to find which ones are the cause.
If you have a lot, adding them back in groups and testing in between is the best way.

I have one question regarding the navigation and real world situations…
If im flying with the ins and I didn’t do my due diligence and my arival airport is only a gps approach with no radars/vors etc… is it legit if i use those rnp/lnav-vnav waypoints and add them into the ins or isnt it built do do that sort of thing and would real world 727 pilots eaither avoid those airports or have the relivant garman that can upload those relevant satellite based Sids and stars

As a follow-up to this: I did some experimenting and found that the Engine ! shutdown happens when I use the FSEconomy controller. Too bad.
Thanks again for the assistance.

I still cannot get the engines started. I use the iphone check list. Once the pre-start button turns green, I try to start the engines but nothing happens. I am then forced to use the Ctl-E to start the engines. However, I suspect that this action creates some issues with navigation at times. For example, in my flight yesterday, I could not get the gps button to light up. Can someone provide me with a short cut for starting the engine from cold?

Does anything happen when you try to start them?
If not, and you have the APU on, is the air supply from the APU on?

I will need to check that before I can provide an answer.
