Fly RNAV SIDs/STARs with any AP enabled plane with this autopilot addon

I just found a wonderful addon called FSTramp that serves as an external autopilot/flight planning/map plugin, and this enables the ability to fly RNAV procedures, which so far have been somewhat impossible given the current lack of working vnav on most planes. I won’t link it here because the site is old and lacks a proper SSL cert, but googling “fstramp” will lead you in the right direction (at your own risk, of course).

I’m not associated with this project at all, but I just found it and am very impressed with its capabilities. Being able to properly fly SIDs and STARs is invaluable for VATSIM/pilotedge, and that was one of my biggest frustrations with the AP in the sim.

wow. pay £32 / $35 per year to fly aircraft using RNAV procedures

The lack of VNAV doesn’t prevent me from flying RNAV approaches… must have a few hundred so far in MSFS and other than some magnetic issues with Navigraph beta that are now solved :crossed_fingers:t2:, it’s been flawless.

well sure so have I, but that doesn’t mean that it functions like it should in the sim. Ideally the autopilot should climb and descend based on the inputted altitudes which so far has not been implemented correctly. And the commenters above is right, this probably isn’t worth the cost they’re charging, but I was impressed after playing around with the trial version.

Absolutely, there are no excuses to not have VNAV, this has been reported to death and they are working on it. I thought you were considering an external software for that but I’m glad you know better

And it’s still a pretty handy piece of software for other reasons too, all of the flight planning is done externally so you’re not limited to the poor functionality of the g1000/fmc. Can’t count how many times I needed to restart a flight because of a stuck waypoint. Also being able to remove waypoints from a procedure is really handy when vatsim atc often vector you partway into the arrival procedure
