I didn’t think to do so, but heard it from the flight deck and sounded just like the Emirates A380s I flew on last year (which were all RR engined models). I was upstairs.
The cabin in the FBW plane is pretty good. My seat on one of the flights last year:
Fly By Wire plane:
The only differences are the headrests are not the same, but it’s pretty close!
Has anyone got any screenshots of the paint kit open in Photoshop to see what it’s like? I’ve previously used PMDG paint kits but took a look at the previews on the flightsim.to with just the wireframe of the model on blank white and not too keen on that.
Can you please stop calling it a useless product. A team of many people joint together around a dream of building one of the most complex airliners of our time, any likely all time. They’ve worked for four years on that product they wish others to enjoy for free. In the spirit of open source team effort, they’re now unleashing the product to the public at large as the baseproduct is finished and they will continue to work for free based on our feedback, next to what is still in their pipelines …and then they find you, sitting here and shaitting all over their tremendous effort because you’re unable or unwilling to see all this. If you don’t like it, don’t fly it. You can just wait another two years untill they got it all as perfect as you demand it to be.
How can the product be useless when thousands of users enjoyed it?
I spent my whole weekend with it and it is already better and more reliable than many payware products.
If you are not happy with its current state just uninstall it again and wait for stable release in 2026.
It is not a mandatory download and you do not have to feel obliged to use it.
I encountered one CTD so far in A380 on approach to EGLL (inibuilds) with world update UK & Ireland loaded. I am assuming it was probably memory crash - This thing uses all of available memory even at 4K. My current system has got 32GB DDR4 ram and at LL it almost uses something like 27GB - that’s with no AI of course. If I load into any other plane then I’m back down to 6-7GB.
So yeah although FBW has done fantastic job with it in terms of systems and modelling but it is not the most optimised plane yet. Of course it is all Alpha and what not so hopefully this will get optimised.
Awesome job Devs <3 I have health issues and couldn’t play msfs2020 for months (still can’t play) but i watched twitchtv live streams and youtube guides of this amazing plane since release. Everything was positive apart from some optimization problems. I saw lots of photos on reddit and on some forums also, amazing plane <3 Have a lovely positive day you all.
I simply don’t believe in complaining all the time !
This A380 is very good ! Not finished yet, but very good ! It can already fly from A to B, I flew 4 legs with it without major issue, so it’s not useless. And it will become better and better, like the FBW320. You should help them to code it on your free time instead of complaining all the time, it should be more constructive !
Thank you very much FBW team for this masterpeace <3
I’ve had three flights so far, one ended in a CTD, one ended with a very laggy display, but safely completed the trip, and the last one, on the updated version released on the weekend, and I turned off Simbridge due to the memory leak issues.
I flew a 13 hour flight from Singapore to Frankfurt, and it was flawless.
I am fortunate to have a PC, that would have been top of the line in Aug 2023, but right now this plane, on my PC, is as good as most payware initial releases, and better than many fully developed ones.
For those that follow along on Github, changes are submitted nearly every day. You really realize the scope and size of this product by seeing how much goes on behind the scenes.
Terrain Display seems like it has a big part in RAM impact and memory leaks. Once recent push solved what looked to be a pretty huge MSFS memory leak when terrain display was on. The videos on the Github change were pretty compelling.
I think Simbridge and Terrain Display will be off the table on any of my flights for the foreseeable future.
I don’t think they have implemented that as of yet - I tried looking for the same thing myself yesterday but could not find anything either in MFD or on their website.
I need to try turning simbridge off and see if that improves RAM impact. Some people on discord have mentioned that they had improved performance by turning it off.
