Works fine for me but took me a while to figure out I need to press this button to communicate with ATC.

Congrats on the release. When you provide a direct download I’ll give it a try - I hate compulsory installers with a passion…

Fantastic release, and I have to say a flawless download & install too. I’m well impressed with the A380X for an Alpha release.

It’s all new but fairly intuitive so far, if you know how to use the A320NX EFB (and systems) already then the A380x should feel familiar. I just competed a short hop from EGPF->EGLL tonight, with a nice landing into EGLL R27R. It really has the feel of a big aircraft and it certainly looks the part too.

My only issue was not having GSX recognize a parking spot big enough for it at EGPF (zero spots available). I used the one that it uses IRL but no GSX ops were available for that spot as it was deemed too small. I can tell this may be an issue for some of the smaller airports it flies from/to.

FPS wise it’s all quite smooth for me as I’m using lossless scaling (so 20 base x3 = 60FPS) with TLOD @ 150 and FSLTL traffic, no CPU type stutters. I am also choosing to use 4K textures everywhere (aircraft install, liveries etc) rather than 8K, it still looks great though. However even on 4K textures my VRAM utilization was sitting at 70+% (of 24GB, 3090 @ 4K) before taking of from Pyreegue’s EGPF tonight.

I’m really looking forward to some more flights over the coming weekend and digging deeper into the documentation.

Congrats & a major thank you to everyone at FBW who has worked so hard on this. In Alpha, it’s currently in a better state than some payware aircraft are when they are initially released.

This is a problem with the GSX ini file you have installed for EGLL. The creator of it seems to have labeled some spots too small.

Without trying to sound like a cheerleader, I can categorically say, the FBW installer is the best I’ve used… and I’ve had a lot of bad experiences with installers.

It’s more like Steam or the Xbox app as opposed to any Windows installer. Your choice obviously, but you’re missing out. :+1:

It’s EGPF, yes I think that is the problem. I need to go check the GSX config file for that airport and see if I can make it A380 compatible.

It’s disappointing that this has been out for hours now and there are only 18 custom view package downloads available on Flightsim.to so far.

Sure is pretty. Frame-rate-eating monster, but it’s the first Alpha.

Great work by FBW. Loving it so far.
I am having excellent FPS inside the cockpit, but stuttering when panning the exterior camera.
Any clue why?

Looks and sounds great, where be the performance calculator though? Surely I’m missing it somewhere.

You’re not, it’s not implemented yet. Current advice is to use the Simbrief one for now.

What of the other engine versions of the A380 with RR?

This is not specific to this plane, but it appears RR did the RR Trent 980-84 and the 972B-84, also the 977B (freighter).

So those engines actually did get built and tested - is there any more info on them?

I also wonder how much info is around on the A380-900, did it really progress far enough or just an idea on paper?

Unfortunately it is not working in VR. Constant freeze in VR with Virtual Desktop (workaround: Open Shadowplay Panel ALT+Z and close it again)

After Takeoff Sim froze completely… No issues with other planes.

But still great plane and think they will be able to improve it!

According to some rumors, the A380-900 was supposed to carry up to 900 passengers in an all-economy configuration.

Basically, the numerous EIS delays of the A380-800 ended Airbus’s intentions to make new variants, especially the freighter version, which already had firm orders. The wings of the A380-800 are oversized in relation to its fuselage because they were designed with the larger variants in mind, which would share the same wing. The A380-800 was supposed to be the smallest of its family, like the 787-8.

The A380F was the only variant other than the -800 that went further, being officially launched and with firm orders. But with delays, its orders were canceled and Airbus eventually gave up on building it. Airbus has always expressed its intention to build larger variants of the A380, but the potential A380-900 and A380-1000 remained only on the drawing board and were never officially launched by Airbus.

Just thought I’d grab a photo of what’s sitting on top of my other Mac Pro workstation:

Indeed, never made, the orders from FedEx and UPS were stopped. 1:200 scale, even at that scale it is enormous.

Not sure what part of “ALPHA” release you don’t understand. Personally, I’m flying the 8K version and I experienced no performance issue. I’m very impressed with what FBW has released and so are most the content providers on YouTube. Perhaps you need to re-examine what you are doing and stop complaining about an EXCELLENT ALPHA RELEASE of the FBW A380. It’s GREAT!

First flight went much better than expected. Great work.

Only rhing that’s bugging me is how to set up the Autobreak rotary knob on my TCA quadeant.
BTV position is not working and it also skips Flaps 2.

Any idea?

am i the only one that has issues pushing back? i cant pushback, the wheels spin but i dont go anywhere, can go left and right though

This plane likes to crash my sim to desktop. 2 for 2 so far. First time on load-in to the airport, second time while setting up the FMS.

I think I might need to install the 4K variant. I was pushing VRAM pretty hard using an Emirate livery and the 8K version of the plane. My 24GB RTX3090 was around 20GB in use with DX12 and I was just sitting in the cockpit.
