Explain this.. Flying the Savage Cub out of Pensacola, FL in that Tropical Storm, I was flying with Live Weather and plane flew like there was no weather???
Shouldn’t this plane be tossed all over?
The winds don’t seem to work correctly, currently i believe they do work between 20 degrees north and 20 degrees south, and some other random places but most of America is locked at 225/03 winds till the next patch that’s due anytime in the next 5 days.
This is a Know problem… Simply wait the nex patch…
I flew on AI autopilot from Paderborn to Maastricht with the B787, choose Storm plus strong wind as weather (and it was night-time). It was absolutely terrific, with thunderclouds and flashes, and the plane really getting a good beating, being thrown in all directions but (on autopilot) still keeping track.
Only the AI-managed landing failed miserably which was a bit surprising since this did not seem to have anything to do with the weather.
Maybe it’s Live Weather vs. Preset weather? I just recently flew in the preset storm conditions in Idaho in the DR400, and it was being thrown all over the place. If it was IRL (or maybe even VR, lol) I would have coated the entire interior in vomit.
Yes the winds in preset weather work wonderfully, this issue pertains to LIVE WINDS. The clouds are rendered properly using live weather, but the winds are locked at 225/03 at a lot of locations.
Where have you been lately?! Its a known issue and a patch is coming any time now
I can not confirm your assessment about clouds or rather their placement. Visibility often does not match real world conditions. Especially cloud ceiling is often not depicted correctly. When real weather data states a ceiling at, let’s say, 7000 feet it is very possible to have zero visibility near the ground in the sim.
Which is an issue for VFR flying and makes flight planning unpredictable.
Flying from the Gulf Coast into Hurricane Sally with live weather was fun for the visuals. Great big embedded CBs in the outer bands, moats that show on onboard weather radar, at low level rainbands that move quickly etc. Even thought I saw some coastal flooding etc. Even the huge high cirrus shield works well.
But yes, winds appear to be non-existent in live weather. Should be turbulent mixed in with periods of laminar flow etc.
P.s. apologies to the person I scared out of the sky on finals landing back. I dropped out of low cloud/rain and passed within feet. Them in a prop, me in the Citation. I had to go around and saw them crashed a few hundred yards short
