I purchased my first FlyingIron plane yesterday - the Spitfire LF.IXc and must say I’m very happy I did.
It’s been a long time since I did MS flight simulation so I wasn’t familiar with their work but I did buy a lot of payware aircraft back in my FS X days so have some appreciation for quality from a developer. Well done FlyingIron!
I’m on XBox so had only held off the purchase because of the missing cannon fairings (an extremely silly requirement by MS Marketplace when historical aircraft are being represented in my opinion). Now that I’ve flown it I realize I don’t really miss them. You’re not looking in their direction that often and, when you do, that gorgeous elliptical wing makes you smile anyway. I believe them not being there is even correct for the PR blue paint scheme. So many other great things about this plane already mentioned in other reviews.
I’m really looking forward to buying the FlyingIron P-38 when it becomes available for the XBox and will be looking forward to future offerings from them.
On an abandoned RAF airfield in England.

It’s glorious, prolly the best addon on Xbox so far. Challenging. Great modeling and texturing. And super impressive sound. I’ll buy the forked-tail devil the second it comes to console.

Yep, it’s definitely a great one. I took “mine,” decked out in a WWII-era RAAF paint scheme, on a flight around the Australian Outback this morning.
When the P-38 ever becomes available on the XBox, just go ahead and buy it. It’s just about my single favorite plane in the sim. Their upcoming F6F Hellcat will be a Day-1 purchase from me.

Thanks for the post @FieldGunner, we are glad you’re enjoying our Spitfire!
We are working really hard on bringing the P-38 to Xbox - we have decided to move all our WASM code to XML for compatibility, and have some major improvements planned for update 1.1.0. We will be taking this same approach to all our future aircraft to ensure maximum compatibility with the Xbox

Oh the irony! Cannons were displaying just fine on xbox until the 1.1.0 update a few days ago. Just click the wings to show them. Sadly now they are gone and I definitely miss that, but certainly not enough to count as a negative to a great plane and doesn’t stop me from flying it.
