Flysimware Cessna 414A

The glow is the turbochargers. Seen in real life in such aircraft, including an old friend’s C421C Golden Eagle when he had that.

I don’t think it’s the glow as such that’s the issue here, it’s how it’s implemented. To me too it looks very awkward, like paint on the engine hood. Certainly not like light emitting from inside. But this is nitpicking, this is a great aircraft that I enjoy very much!

That’s exactly right. If you zoom in to that top image you posted you will see the red light is not coming from the air vents, where it should be coming from, but from the painted hull itself. The gaps of the air vents are black.

I’ve been using the Cessna 414 to practice multi-engine assymetrics and even though I am well above VMCA and above blue line I cannot, even with full rudder, get the ball near the center let alone “split the ball” using rudder and a few degrees of bank into the live engine. Am I missing something?

One thing I will definitely say about this aircraft - it feathers the prop every single time unlike other multi engine piston aircraft where you pull the prop pitch all the way back and yet the prop still spins away with the airspeed dropping like a rock.

Circuit breakers modeled are useful once they allow random failures during flight. It will be nice if 414A had these features.

I’ve not done much scripting with SPAD, but you could probably do this with external tools. Define the systems you would like to see fail, and then have the script randomly trigger one of these fuses to simulate system failure. The trigger could be a random time after simulation start, for example.

If you wanted a physical fuse board, one fun thing to try is using a Streamdeck XL, which has 32 buttons, with each button representing a fuse. Watch for the red lights.

After using one of those for a while you will come to wish they made an XXL.

Thank you for info. I tried it and it worked for me too.

I have to agree. As cool as the idea is, it just doesn’t quite pull it off. I think there would be fewer people making confused posts about it if it was implemented better.

As it is I decided to bind “beacon off” to my camera reset button and haven’t seen it since. As you said though, very minor nitpick.

Recently purchased this plane. It’s awesome.

I love the C414. Picked mine up from Gibralter and currently at my base airport of Blackbushe. Once I am finished playing with my shiny new HondaJet, I will be back in this.

I really wish the registration numbers for the different 414 liveries weren’t modeled into the textures. I like to use my own registration as it’s easier for me to recognize it over ATC.

I’ve been looking on flightsim.to for any liveries that will display a custom registration, but haven’t found any. Does anyone here know of one?

Can you just change it in the liverie’s aircraft.cfg?

You can change the call sign but not the tail number which is part of the livery, unfortunately.

The default registration number will still be displayed on the aircraft.

Hello, is it true that it is not possible to update the data with Navigraph with thé TDS GTN750nxi ?

Although I havent flown the 414 for a while, I have zero issues with Navigraph and the TDS 750xi on other aircraft.

My understanding is that the TDS GTN is running an actual Garmin trainer in the background, and thus comes with whatever navdata updates Garmin provides with their trainers are updated. In my experience it’s usually several months to over a year behind current navdata and there is no way to inject those to update. The only solution I’ve heard of is using a Garmin subscription to upload, but that’s real-world nav and costs a lot of money.

I always have to back up my TDS GTN usage with actual, current charts.

That was what i understood. Thanks for your answers.

For all the FSW Cessna 414 fans, here is a video I made a few days ago on climb, cruise, and descent planning. Cruise performance charts are included as well as a method for power management during descent.

Perhaps it was already mentioned here… but FWIIW, I am 99% sure that the JustFlight Analog KingAir mod is breaking the 414+TDS 750 NXi combo.

Before installing the JF KingAir everything was working perfectly.

After installing JF KingAir the autopilot started to act super strange for 414. I could not activate certain modes, or they would not do what they were supposed to do (altitude hold/altitude capture in particular). Uninstalled JF KingAir and everything went back to normal. This is with 414 and MSFS 2020 patched to latest version.

This is very unfortunate because these are the two most interesting aircraft for me. I am not even sure who to complain about this to: JF? TDS?

Anybody else seeing the same thing?
