Flysimware Cessna 414A

Thanks…good to know.

And I would have thought that the flight model was more important than anything else for something…well…that flies.

Well I guess then it’s good that you’re not a developer. You don’t sell a plane by first and foremost having the most accurate flight model. Most people flying MSFS will probably not notice that the current flight model isn’t accurate yet. After all it IS pretty decent already. And the dev seems to work together with a C414 pilot to get it as close to 100% as possible. But it’s all still beta.

If you start with the flight model, people will decide the visual model is not good enough and noone will buy it. The visuals are what most people attract the most at first.
I think the way FlySimWare does it is the most reasonable. After all the visual model and cockpit were stunning from the beginning - and even the flight model and avionics were pretty decent from the start.

So IMHO even in Beta is better than most other planes out there. I don’t see a problem with an interim flight model.

Well good for you. If you are happy, I am happy.

First thing I do in every new version is setting the sound variable of the fuel pumps low to false. Otherwise I would eventually get a tinitus.

They are not hidden. I have the new alerter working. Different yes but not hidden.

While going online to grab the manual, I found out there’s a 2.1.0 Hotfix update. Just an FYI.

From the change log:
UPDATES:

  1. HSI nav flag is now updated to work anytime there is a active nav signal.

  2. VOR2 gauge will no longer be active for nav 2 when in gps mode. Needle animation speed is slower.

  3. There were duplicate labels on the new digital alerter.

  4. The digital alerter value is now aligned correctly to the background card.

  5. The DME now has a decimal for under 100NM out. Some VOR’s in the sim have long range up to 130NM out.

  6. Tablet page 3 now shows the page name at the bottom.

I’ve just been looking at that, and spotted something potentially odd.

So at the start of the fuel pump section in “sound.xml”, there are 4 events. This is the section for the pump sounds themselves, not the “click” sound, which are found earlier in the file.

The first 2 are fuel pump low/high for engine 1, the second are 2 events for fuel pump low/high for engine 2.

Then there is a section for the primer, but both events are called “fuel_pump1_high”.

There doesn’t appear to be a “fuel_pump2_high”. The only difference that I can see is that one event has “<Range LowerBound=“2”/>”, and the other has “<Range UpperBound=“0”/>”.

I know nothing about WWise implementation, but that doesn’t look right to me.

Setting ‘"WwiseData=“false”’ for all six events certainly makes the cockpit a nicer place to be.

Oh wow, seems to be the “Garmin Alerter Code”, could you please help me out with that?
Thanks and regards,
Herbert

I’ve just knocked together this addon to silence the fuel pumps. If anyone fancies giving it a go, please do.

For the life of me I cannot get the “manifest.json” to work as far as its contents appearing in the “My Content” page. Even when I copied the exact same data from another package, in this case the Asobo C208, copied that in to the manifest file, and simply changed its title to something unique, it just shows “Waiting” when you try to view it, and its contents never appears.

So they still havent fixed the ILS problem that prevents AP from actually flying the approach when using the PMS 750? Oh man…

I fly the LOC & ILS successfully every flight. I wonder what the problem could be?

Is this out of beta yet? Waiting for it to come to Xbox

Nope. Still in BETA and development seems more concerned about aesthetics than flight dynamics, though hoping that changes.

It was the first real big textures update with v2.0.0. Other updates had many fixes, better AP, better Garmins, fixes again, new soundset etc.

I think your statement is a little bit unfair

I didn’t say it was a fact, now did I. Just my opinion. I fly it and like it, but I still have my opinion. Thanks for your feedback.

I don’t think it’s unfair at all. We all like different things but one thing that is common to what we all need in an aircraft is the flight model and aircraft systems. It is a flight sim after all. Better textures, avatars and coffee cups are all things that should come after the flight model and systems are spot on. My 2 cents.

Hello All

Prior WU9 I was flying the 414 without any issues (with the 750). All was fine.
Now, I wanted to give her a spin and now I have following issues:

  1. With the 750-Model the plane would no longer follow a NAV course (VOR).
I then updated the PMS750 as I thought maybe maybe right? This did not help,
but now I also cannot set the altitude anymore …

  2. With the 530-Model the GPS is keeping on “initializing” but never really starting. There I can
    change the Altitude settings.

I dunno, am I missing something? All was perfect and now it’s all messed up :-(…

Hope you guys have an idea?

Just testing the 750 now. The plan is to take off from Stapleford, and head towards BKY. I will also set a target altitude of 10,000ft, and use IAS to get there. IIRC all of that works on the 530 variant.

For the 530, perhaps you have not updated it to the latest?
