Weird. Works fine for me though I do go through SPAD. Then again I’m not generally looking at the throttles in-sim when I’m landing so I really don’t care if they animate properly or not ![]()
Thats more complicated as its dual function. Without pressing the button in the center it will adjust the flight director pitch - but not if an advanced vertical mode like VS or SPD is active, it will if the AP is in basic pitch hold mode though and will also if the FD is on, but the AP is not active - useful for setting take-off pitch. You can use the INCREASE/DECREASE AP PITCH HOLD REFERENCE COMMAND to do that in MSFS.
With the button pressed, it disengages the autopilot and then it performs the functions of a trim switch - up down for elevator trim and left right for aileron tirm (NOT rudder).
I’ve not bothered to try to emulate that - I use the rocker switches on the Alpha for trim. I’ve not worked out what the command is for the centre button yet (either in MSFS or the underlying event for use in SPAD)
I just checked again in the sim - doesn’t work properly with TOGGLE REVERSE THRUST - not just the animation, but the behaviour too.
It needs to be HOLD REVERSE THURST and CUT THROTTLE
Yeah I do it all in SPAD and just set the Throttle AXIS directly
There is a variable named AP_MANAGED_SPEED_IN_MACH_TOGGLE. I am not in the sim at the moment and use Spad. However, I am fairly certain this can also be bound within MSFS. Please be aware that you need to be in SPD mode prior to turning on Mach.
@Agathorn1975 Can confirm this works in SPAD and yes, the same command is available in the Autopilot section of the MSFS commands for non SPAD/AAO users
Thanks. I figured I could probably bind it, but I try not to bind many things as I fly in VR so fumbling for switches isn’t fun ![]()
The way the AFM describes it seems like it should automatically set the mode based on altitude.
I might be able to MacGyver something using SPAD that triggers off pressing the VC button and the altitude.
I do not think that lock mode is the issue. In order to engage Mach it is a right mouse click. I remember someone who flies VR complaining about that limitation.
You could have it trigger on the script panel with the transition altitude (28000?) at the condition. No need to press anything. Would switch automatically.
Yes, that’s what I was thinking but you still need to check the switch state because you don’t want to turn on speed hold if it wasn’t on in the first place ![]()
Nah, even in 2D mode right click does nothing when in legacy input mode. Right click lets you pan the camera around in 2D mode.
Where it becomes a problem in VR is that you can’t enable Lock input mode in VR. The option is disabled.
But either way, 2D or VR, when in Legacy mode a right click won’t do it
You have to lock the button with a left click, then a right click but that only works in that other input mode.
It does work in 2D if done correctly. Left click to engage SPD and continue to hold left mouse button down. Then right click to enter MACH. So it is basiclly a Left + Right click without SPD being on initially to turn Mach On.
Works a bit differently than with the bindings.
Yes that’s how it works in lock mode.
EDIT: Ah crap it DOES work that way also in Legacy mode. Well I guess it IS just VR that is hosed ![]()
Might dig into seeing if I can fix that on the MSFS side. In VR mode right click does a zoom in the cockpit.
Ok I got it working now. I don’t know what my problem was before. I guess I’m just an idiot.
Life is good: Flew the 737-700 from Winnipeg to Montreal (CYUL) this morning to catch some jet stream; and now in the 35A to Anchorage from Sitka, enjoying VFR on top at FL300 with fluffy broken cumulus below. Picked the GTN version in error, still trying to decide if I want to purchase the upgrade. Will have to calculate my own descent today LOL! It is a very nice airplane IMO.
I have done a few flights with the Learjet since it was released on Xbox. It’s a brilliant plane to fly, I’m really enjoying it. The only problem I’m having with it is major stutters and pauses when on approach. It doesn’t always do it, but it’s annoying when it does. It has done it even at default airports too. Sometimes, the GNS unit goes blank too and I lose the flight plan. I’m on series X.
Pretty sure you can’t VFR at FL300 ![]()
The joy of flight simming is that I can do in sim what I cannot do IRL!
Here you go: first tutorial vid for the. FSW Learjet 35A. This is primarily for folk new to the aircraft. Or who maybe need convincing they need some Golden Age of jet glamour in their lives!
That’s known as an Avionics Blackout (ABO). It’s a problem common to many hifidelity aircraft on Xbox and happens when memory is running low and the system starts to cull resources.
Try to minimise the draw on memory if possible (avoid photogrammetry areas and watch out for some scenery enhancement mods. Some of the custom airports included in the World Updates are not well optimised (eg Nordics) and make it worse as will any memory hungry scenery.
Search the forums for ABOs for more suggestions on how to mitigate this on Xbox.
I have a few problems one is that I cannot activate the parking break it always on and off all the time.
Also the button on the yoke seems to have a similiar problem.
