just got this plane, simbrief have the learjet 25 and 45 which one should i use and is there any simbrief profile for this model?
Probably the 45 but add a bit of fuel. The 35 and 45 have the same-ish type of engine (the 45 has a later -20 or 40 engine). I used to have a modified profile for when I was flying the 35 in P3D often but I can’t remember what fuel factor I was using… I want to say P20 but it’s been a couple of years now and I can’t remember for sure.
I created a Simbrief profile based on the 45 with fuel consumption at P10. The fuel burn tracks very well with Simbrief, if I cruise at a turbine setting (top gauge) of 85%.
Thanks. BTW. Do you look like David Gilmour or is that a pic of him in your profile? ![]()
appreciate the replies.
Im also having problem find how to descend with the autopilot
no vnav correct? also tried V/S but cant find how to use it besides turning it on
Maybe it is him. We know that he has long held a passion for aviation!
Only way I’ve found of doing it is disengage alt hold, pitch down for required rate of descent engage vs and it should hold the rate of descent. You can then adjust the rate of descent up or down by disengaging vs then either using autopilot reference pitch up or down and then re-engaging vs when the desired new rate of descent is achieved. I have the autopilot pitch reference up and down bound to a three way switch but it is all a bit of a performance.
Maybe it’s the bae146 in me, but I just switch AP to SPD mode to hold the speed, and ease off the throttle and watch the v/s dial and when it reaches a v/s for descent that I’m happy with say -2000ft/min I either switch AP over to v/s mode to hold that rate or stay in SPD mode and adjust throttle to maintain a steady v/s.
I’m sure you can also just use the pitch(nose) down switch on the yoke to set the descent pitch/rate though, but you will need to back off the throttle since it’s manual.
haha. no, just a long-time admirer of his work.
I respect your wish to remain anonymous Mr. G!
Yes, I had it in P3D and it is already better than that at this stage. Whether or not you like this type of aircraft or flying is entirely up to you but the product is good.
Well, I just did a 2 1/2 hr flight at FL430 from KMCO to KIAH and everything went fine, including an ILS approach into KIAH 26R. Absolutely no issues capturing & holding G/S. Also liking this nice fresh livery from flightsim .to (TimHH).
As someone suggested (thank you) I used simbrief LJ45 profile with some extra fuel added just in case. The LJ35A is a very nice aircraft for a pre-release. There’s not a lot wrong, things are largely working as expected, which is excellent. For me, it’s just the cabin noise (too loud) and the ATC (too quiet to be heard) even with the cabin volume switch set to max (it didn’t help much). Otherwise it’s all good to me & I’m looking forward to flying it more.

Brilliant. I’m 60 (61 next year) so a long time fan. Actually been listening to Wish you were here recently. My favourite PF album ![]()
100% with you on that statement. :). I put that LP on infinite repeat.
So the real question is, just before you hit the buy button on this beauty, how many of you sang to yourself, “I think I need a Learjet”?
I agree about the sounds. To me, it didn’t quite sound right at low power settings. While it sounds better at higher power settings (has a bit of that TFE731 whine) the interior sound are still a bit loud and closer to external sound. IIRC, the earlier 731s were lower bypass so they would have been louder so benefit of the doubt given there. The start up sounds need the most work IMHO. You can most definitely hear the engines wind up on the starter inside in a Learjet (a 40 series at least) and there should definitely be a POOF as it lights off. It’s early access though so taking all of that with a grain of salt.
Awesome Plane, Compass light is super bright at night, can’t find a way to dim it.
Engine and wind sounds are really loud, anyway to turn them down on just this plane, without changing global sertings, which will need to go back up with next plane?
Other than that, fun highly detailed plane, fly’s Great, speedy, and does great ILS RNAV landing perfect…
I can’t comment on how true to life the sounds are, they seem fine to me, but I have no IRL experience hearing this aircraft. I just know that I’d have to go into sim options/settings to dial things back just for this aircraft, which as someone else pointed out I refuse to do, I don’t have to do this for any other aircraft. So I end up just turning the overall sim volume down to accommodate which makes the ATC almost inaudible (I’ve missed a few ATC hand offs as a result). I suspect many won’t notice/care if they don’t use in game ATC. I just wish devs would put slider controls in EFB for audio levels, then we can all change various volumes to suit our own needs.
Here are some performance data taken from a original (pdf) flight manual.
Full Checklist/Procedures coming hopefully latest in 2 days.
Cheers
