WELCOME TO ITALY WEEK!
Following the release of the recent Italy City Update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the team at Massive Simulations 32 decided that simply taking a quick sightseeing flight around Italy wasn’t going to be enough.
Oh no.
We’re taking the whole community to Italy for the week.
Every day this week we’ll be flying into, out of and around Italy, with our different community events giving us another opportunity to explore the country and check out some of the fantastic new and improved scenery.
Helicopters.
Warbirds.
Vintage aircraft.
Airliners.
And plenty more besides.
Whatever you enjoy flying, there should be something waiting for you during ITALY WEEK.
WHY ITALY WEEK?
The latest Microsoft Flight Simulator update has given us the perfect excuse.
The recent Italy City Update brings significant scenery improvements to locations across Italy, including the mainland and the islands of Sardinia and Sicily.
So naturally, we decided to organise an entire week of flying around it.
Throughout the week our events will take us across different parts of the country, from spectacular Mediterranean coastlines and rugged mountain terrain to historic cities and busy Italian airports.
Some days we’ll be down among the buildings.
Others we’ll be screaming through the mountains in WWII fighters.
And on others we’ll be considerably higher, considerably heavier and wondering why ATC has just given six of us the same runway.
It’s Massive Simulations 32. You know how this works.
A LITTLE SOMETHING IN RETURN
There’s another reason we wanted to make Italy Week something special.
We’re incredibly fortunate at Massive Simulations 32 to receive sponsorship and support from Asobo Studio for our Discord community, and that’s something we genuinely appreciate.
Their support helps us continue building this community and doing what we enjoy most—bringing people together from around the world to share our enthusiasm for Microsoft Flight Simulator and aviation.
So when a major new update like the MSFS 2024 Italy City Update arrives, we want to do our bit in return.
Rather than simply posting about the update, we thought:
Why not build an entire week of community flying around it?
Italy Week is our way of saying thank you while also doing what Massive Simulations 32 does best—getting pilots into the simulator and actually exploring the incredible work that’s been added to it.
Throughout the week we’ll deliberately take our events into and around Italy, giving our community the opportunity to experience the new scenery from all sorts of perspectives.
From 100 knots in a helicopter…
to 240 knots in a WWII fighter…
to an airliner descending into one of Italy’s updated cities.
It’s a chance to showcase the update, encourage people to get out and explore it, and hopefully introduce parts of the new scenery to pilots who might otherwise have flown straight past them.
Most importantly, it’s our opportunity to recognise the support Asobo Studio gives our community.

A DIFFERENT ADVENTURE EVERY DAY
The idea behind Italy Week is simple:
Every day, we fly Italy.
Each of our regular community events will put its own spin on exploring the country.
One night might see us hugging the Italian Riviera in helicopters.
The next could have a formation of WWII fighters tearing across Sardinia.
Then we’ll swap gunsights for autopilots as multiple generations of airliners converge on an Italian airport.
And that’s just part of what we’ve got planned.
Different aircraft.
Different routes.
Different parts of Italy.
One massive week of community flying.
Because each event is being planned separately, you’ll need to keep an eye on our Discord for the individual flight plans, departure points, aircraft recommendations and event information.

You don’t have to attend every flight.

From the Alps to the Mediterranean…
From ancient towns to modern cities…
From beaches and mountain ridges to international airports…
Italy gives us one of the most varied flying environments anywhere in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
And during ITALY WEEK, we’re going to make the most of it.
Expect sightseeing.
Expect formation flying.
Expect some stunning approaches.
Expect questionable decision-making.
Expect somebody to bring an aircraft that is completely inappropriate for the event.
And expect the occasional:
“WHO JUST FLEW UNDERNEATH ME?!”
Wouldn’t be a Massive Simulations event otherwise.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
Whether you’ve been flying with Massive Simulations 32 for years or you’ve never joined one of our multiplayer events before, you’re welcome to come along.
We’re here to enjoy the simulator, explore the world, fly together and have a laugh while doing it.
You don’t need to be an expert pilot.
You don’t need the most expensive aircraft.
And you certainly don’t need to know how to pronounce every Italian waypoint we’re about to encounter.
Just bring an aircraft, join the community and come flying.
ITALY WEEK – NOW BOARDING
The scenery has been updated.

The espresso machine is warming up.
