For now, world explorers on XBSX are better off sticking with 2020

I have both MSFS 2020 and 2024 on XBSX. I’ve played a fair bit with 2024 in recent days. Yes, it looks marvelous and promises much, but there’s no doubt that compared to 2020, 2024 falls somewhat short in a number of areas.

It goes without saying that these are very early days for 2024. If 2020 is anything to go by, Asobo will provide a steady stream of fixes, patches, and updates both to the sim and to the world itself.

However, 2024 ships without something precious to world explorers - A.I. Pilot is gone from 2024. No forewarning from the devs, and no explanation, either. It simply isn’t present, leaving thousands of users without a signal aspect of their favourite flight sim.

MSFS 2020 has matured over the past 4-5 years. It’s become a fully-fledged product, its systems modified and improved to the point where, even as a newer iteration supersedes it, it remains a formidable sim in its own right - especially on XBSX. 2020 also retains A.I. Pilot - which for many of us non-pilot types is our ‘ticket to the world’.

My recommendation is by all means invest in MSFS 2024 (I did), but until (or unless) we get A.I. Pilot for 2024, too, as an XBSX world explorer you are likely going to find 2024 frustrating. So keep 2020 on your system, for now. And keep an eye on developments in 2024. Hopefully, our favourite feature will get re-introduced in 2024. If not, you’ve always got 2020 and its hands-free world of virtual exploration to console yourself with.
