Hi, I have a high end pc with Rtx 2080 super, I7- intel running on windows 11. never had a problem running msfs with high graphic settings. Ever since the last update, when I load up a flight, I get major low frame rates (2-3unplayable). I have no idea what is going on. I have deleted community folder contents and even reinstall msfs and still get the same result. It doesn’t matter what plane I use (small or large). Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have run benchmark softwares which tell me everything is running great! Most snapshots I’ve seen of the fps window in msfs show limited by main thread but mine shows limited by main thread PC D3D11.
Possibly a marketplace mod conflict, check for known issues. Also deleting community content without first uninstalling those that used an installer is really a bad idea.
If you have turned off hyperthreading or limited cores it could also be a factor.
hmmm… we have a discussion with a similar report where now seemingly user is limited by cpu:
The user was able to increase the fps a bit with dpi-scaling, but it still not same as before. We still not realy find out the root cause… You can follow the discussion and may be you find some intressting for your case.
When you reinstalled MSFS do you mean completely or do you have community and official in another location? … Even marketplace mods can be faulty.
And with such a fast cpu … you need to have graphics ultra and renderscale bumped up, if you then need more fps then lower LOD and other cpu intensive settings such as traffic. The rule is try not to be mainthread limited.
I have the same problem. When I take off a flight, I have more than 20 fps. Then the rate slowly drops to 2 fps. This can take half an hour. Occasionally, the problem does not occur at all.
A restart of the flight does not bring any improvement. As soon as I go to the main menu and restart the flight, I start again with the higher frame rate.
